Announcement: Zetaboards, the hosting provider for the IPMS Ireland Forum, has been experiencing issues with their servers over the last 24 hours. As such there may be intermittent disruptions to the forum, preventing you from accessing it. I'm sure they are working on the issue and will have in fixed in due time. |

You may have noticed that the forum is suffering from intermittent connection problems and short outages. Well, this is about to get technical so hold onto your hats. Our forum is hosted on Zetaboard server s11 which is currently being targeted for DDoS attacks, that's Distributed Denial of Service attacks. Everytime you connect to the forum you're opening a connection with s11. During a DDoS attack so many connections are opened with a server at once that it cannot function properly. This is usually carried out by a botnet, hundreds of computers infected with malware coordinating together to target the server. The owners of the computers involved would actually be oblivious to the fact that their computers are infected and participating in the attack. Which is why it's always advisable to regular check your computer for viruses and malware. The DDoS attacks could last a while so we'll have to sit and wait but I'll keep an eye on things and keep you posted. |
