Yes Karl it's at three. It was felt it was too early last year and the tables were emptied of models and the traders did get much business after that so this year the awards are at three. We are also asking for models be left on the competition tables for a half hour following the awards ceremony, so as to allow your fellow modellers – and the public – to see your handiwork, and how you have earned your awards. This means that you cannot remove your entries until 3.30 pm on Sunday afternoon. If you cannot do this, you need to get specific permission from the Competition Secretary* *that's me

Unfortunately I'm not going to make it down to D3. Too many other life events taking priority (plus hotel rooms in Dublin this weekend are crazy prices!) I know there are a couple of other guys from up this way heading down to visit so I'll just have to wait and hear about their adventures 'down south' Pity Liam |

I've probably left this a little late to ask, but any tips on a good place to park for a couple of hours today for D3? I had been thinking of Fleet St car park but hadn't realised how far down Pearse St the Hotel is. Thanks... EDIT: Actually, just answered my own question, apart from possible On Street Parking nearby, it also looks like there's a Car Park down the road near the Theatre, so that'll do nicely. J. Well.....just back from the show. I'm sure most/all of the participants in the forum that made it there will agree that it was a resounding success. In the competition - there were 199 models on show (the highest entry, by far, in the history of the club). And the great majority of them were first class - some indeed stunningly so. I'm sure that there will be loads of photos put up of them on this forum, and others, in the coming days and weeks....We will all have our own favourites within the various competition classes, but I think that most will agree that the Best of Show - that amazing 1/35th scale Sci-Fi "creation" - was a worthy winner. On the traders - many thanks to Marks Models, Dublin Model Shop/Paul Walsh, Radu Brinzan Productions, allscalesmodels, The Modellers' Nook and Irish Transport Books and Kits, for coming. I do hope that you all made good sales, and that your visit was worthwhile for you. We, in the club, very much value your presence. The kitswop did well - helping 8 club members to down-size their stashes. Some of the prices there were also very competitive. (Of course some of us bought from the others there, and from the traders, so have come home with more to add to our stashes....) The public who attended (at least 200 of them, on top of the kids who got in free and the IPMS Members who did likewise) enjoyed their time too, and voted for a ship as their choice. The club table displays were excellent also, and the judges of the Best Club display (both from IPMS UK) awarded the Trophy to the Dublin Chapter display. (Many thanks to all those Dublin Chapter members who contributed models to the display). Much thanks to all those who volunteered of their time and effort to making the weekend a success, including those who manned the door, the kitswop, the club tables and the competition registration, and those who gave of their time to judge the competition. Particular thanks to Pat McGrath, who marshalled the judges, and to Sean W (aka Alkatraz), who put all the registration data on computer. And of course to our Chairman, Gerry Hanlon, for presenting all of the medals, certificates and trophies at the awards ceremony this afternoon. See you all next year (though at a different venue...to be announced later). Roll on D4!! Philip Edited by Prenton, Sep 28 2014, 09:06 PM.

Tried after a very enjoyable two days but looking forward to next year Well done and thank you to all involved in organising and running a sucessful show including the committee/judges/entrants/traders and any one who helped out in any capacity. There were some wonderful examples of workmanship on display in the competition and it was great to see the number of entries in the junior class which show there is new blood in the hobby. Roll on next year. |

Well I can't speak for anybody else but I had a great if tiring weekend. Thanks to everyone who volunteered to judge. There was a scurrilous rumour that I put some pressure on people to "Volunteer" but I did get some people who when asked gave me a very emphatic "NO!" which was graciously accepted- I will be be asking you again next year folksJudging, I think, is an excellent way of improving your modelling and nothing to be afraid of. First timers will always be paired off with experienced judges. Lots of people gave up their time to judge up to three categories and deserve extra thanks. The standard was very high (Though it has to be said there were some shockers on display and in some classes judging was very tight. No helicopters this year and no Civilian Dioramas No ships in the largescale class though that might change next year after the Sub Group build large scale planes dominated the competition tables.I made enough money from the kit swop to fund my purchases from the traders plus my meal after the show on the Saturday night so a financially neutral weekend for me Roll on Modelling Munster |

...not only that judging makes one notice one's own mistakes and omissions, but it's a great way of how to meet new people as well. Good weekend, good standard of the models on the tables, more relaxed atmosphere than last year, although tiring, mad busy Saturday, BTW: glad that paper boat got 'People's Choice' award and there's Photographic report of the show in appropriate section as well

Yep, agree with all of the above. Very well run and organised - take a bow all who were involved. Was also interesting to see which classes were popular and those that weren't - not many 1/72 jets on display either.... Kitswop had great bargains as always and a rummage in the trade stands also yielded a nice find....and one that got away Roll on 2015! Dermot |

It was a great show and I just want to add my thanks and congratulations to the organizers and to the award winners !I definetly agree with Pat about judging. This is the first year I've ever done judging and the part I like most about it is being able to see peoples work close u[ and to get the time to study it for a bit. There is, of course, the added bonus of being more aware of what judging is all about- i.e. what the judges are looking for in your work. If I'm building something now with an eye to entering it into a competition I found myself asking 'what would a judge make of this bit' etc! Again- fantastic show and a pleasure getting to see you all again and meet some new faces too! Edited by Karl187, Sep 30 2014, 05:23 PM.

Gents, Just a quick thank you to the organisers for a well run show. Quality of the kits was excellent but the quality of the warm welcome extended to yours truly even better. Great to have met alot of you in person. Course now I expect that next year a few of you will have to come over here and fly the flag. Paddy and Terry I am expecting you over for Flanders . Hi Brian Thanks for the thanks. Great to meet you too (at last) and to put a face to a "regular" contributor. Yes, we do need to organise an expedition to the "Low Countries" in 2015. Cheers, Philip |
