Does anyone know if there is a formal plan of action for IPMS Ireland attendance @ the
Irish Model Soldier Society show on the 17th & 18th of May? ie Table space available, set up times,
what is required for display table?

Thanks in advance,
Vincent

Now in our 56th Year, we are delighted to announce the date, time and place of Irish Model Soldier Society's 2014 Show. This is the premiere Scale Model Show and Exhibition in Ireland and from 2014 we will be holding it in one of Dublin's premiere Hotels and event centres Hilton Dublin. Doors open on the Saturday and Sunday morning at 10am until 5pm. Confirmed Vendors at this time are Hawk Miniatures, Shamrock-Miniatures, The Dublin Model Shop aka Paul Walsh Models, Mirror Models, Sphere Productions, Name It, Modellers Nook. We will have many of our wonderful reenactor friends also such as Romans Ireland, the Vikings and Medieval warriors of Dublin Living History Society, the Minstrel Boys representing the US Civil War, as well as our usual battle groups of WW1 & WW2 troops and paratroops, Irish Civil War and War of Indepence. With more vendors and reenactors to come!

At a guess it'll be about a Euro or two per person and about three or four Euro for a family, a pretty good price for such an action packed show. Another guess but I reckon it'll be the usual ten Euro for unlimited model entries for the competition aspect. There is a Committee Meeting within the next week so that'll be finalised there

AFAIK if you are a member of the IMSS entry to show and competition are free.

I have just received the following message from John Schley, the Hon Secretary of IMSS (I had asked him if IPMS Ireland would be allocated a table, as happened last year).

Hi Philip,

We had a progress meeting last night. Unfortunately we wont have any extra display tables due to a high demand from traders for tables at this years show.
We have sold out all of our table space, I thought that we would have extra tables available for clubs but we have had to book a separate room just for our demos.

Really sorry about this but we had a push on traders this year to try and balance the costs of the show which is running high this year.

I hope we can accomodate you next year.

Once again apologies.

Kind regards

John Schley

So, unfortunately, there won't be a formal presence from IPMS Ireland at the show on 17th/18th May. Nevertheless, I am sure that many (including myself) will be attending, as it is always an
excellent show, there are traders that have stuff that you cannot get in Ireland normally, and - for those interested in entering - the competition is of very high quality.

Philip

(The next meeting of the Dublin Chapter of IPMS Ireland will be in the Culture Box on 31st May.)

I've been meaning to officially join the IPMS for a while now and with the proposed rule changes to the forum coming into place its probably time to actually get on with it. I'm just wondering if anyone could take my application form and cash payment at the IMSS show this weekend?

Delighted to have you as a member! I can of course take your form, and money (€20), at the IMSS show, and send on the card to you by post next week. I'll be at the show from mid morning on the Saturday (we have a IPMS National Committee meeting from 2.30, so I'll be gone for much of the afternoon, but I'll be somewhere else in the hotel, and may be back that afternoon before the event finishes for the day). I also plan to be there from about 1 pm on the Sunday, in time for the awards (and raffle!)

On the other hand, if you want to, you can scan the filled-in form and send it to me as a pdf by e-mail, perhaps tomorrow or Thursday, and then I'll be able to organise a membership card for you and give it to you on Saturday, in exchange for the money! Whichever you prefer..

My e-mail address is:- philipprenton@eircom.net

Cheers,

Philip

Hi lads

Just saw a timescale and line-up of the IMSS show this coming weekend (on another modelling forum). I'm sure they won't mind me putting it up here:-

Saturday 17th May
10:00 - Doors Open
11:00 - Judges Briefing.
12:00 - Closing time for entry of Models into Competition.
13:00 - Radek Pituch demonstration of figure sculpting techniques.
14:00 - Dave Maddox demonstration of Fantasy Figure painting techniques.
15:00 - Radek Pituch demonstration of multi media weathering techniques.
16:00 - Dave Maddox demonstration of Fantasy Figure painting techniques.

Sunday 18th May
10:00 - Doors Open
11:30 - Radek Pituch demonstration of figure sculpting techniques.
12:30 - Hilary Doyle Talk on WW2 Panzers
13:30 - Radek Pituch demonstration of multi media weathering techniques.
14:30 - Dave Maddox demonstration of Fantasy Figure painting techniques.
15:30 - Mega Raffle (Hundreds of Euro worth of top Model and Model Accessory prizes!)
16:00 - Model Competition Award and Medal Ceremony.

Probably the key things to note are the early time for entry of models in the competion - 12 noon on the Saturday - and the time for the Award Ceremony at 4 pm on the Sunday (for those entering the competition, that is). Some of the demos sound interesting too. Going on last year, the raffle is also worth supporting.

Heil Mickey!
Pity I'll miss H. Doyle's talk this year. It's always very interesting.

It's a shame no-one thinks to record the talk and share it.
