Thought I would grab a few minutes before I have to head up to Belfast to start a thread about this years show.

Venue is quite nice I must say, plenty of room and in a not too busy area of Dublin. I thought the standard of entries this year was fantastic- some great pieces to see in all categories. I spied a really well finished black Aston Martin and a towering piece from War of the Worlds- also a fantastic Foreign Legion figure entitled 'Along The Watchtower' (anyone know who that belongs to by the way?). I just wonder if anyone else thinks the number of entries was down on last year- seemed that way to me but maybe its just me.

Some nice stuff on the trade shelves though- good to see Mitches Military Models there too- some great pieces they have.

Anyway- good seeing some of you guys again, I'll be down again tomorrow afternoon.

Best of luck to anyone who has an entry!

I agree it was a nice show but you're right, the number of models entered is lower and foot traffic through the door also appears down. Still, a nice venue and show.

I guess its hard to suit everyone .Personally I loved Collins Barracks-really handy access and parking for me- and was disappointed the monthly meetings never started up there as was once mooted.

Yes, the number of models entered into the competition was a lot down on last year's show. However, as Karl says, the quality is excellent. Interestingly, the organisers had to move an extra table down to the aircraft section - my guess is that aircraft (which has only three classes) is now taking up about a third of the entire competition. Some of our own had, of course, contributed to that number, what with Joseph (sticks and strings) Moran entering eight, Jack Swalbe entering one and Ken McFarlane entering two. I'll be coming in this afternoon to participate in the raffle and see the awards. Good selection of traders too!

OH yes, Sean, I will be bringing my camera and tripod today, so should get a number of shots, which I will post up on this thread next week.

There were about four ships from what I can remember. The one that stood out for me was a Irish Naval Service ship in a small scale.

Anyone catch the end of the Defense Forces Vintage collection talk yesterday- I was there up to the bit about the Comet- anyone know what came after that?
It was a good talk- can't believe how good ARR2 looks at the minute- they really did some job on it- pity to see that Churchill just sitting there though- sounds like they suspect it is an AVRE or another specialised variant. Unfortunately the Forces don't seem to have the cash to investigate this.

Heil Mickey!
...as they say, buying new shoes every two years is enough. Or something like that.

The number of models will be up next year, as Limerick / Shannon Branch will make their contribution of our models to the competition, serving our own shows first and to justify the double journey up. I think we had 12 or so models on the tables last year.

I sent a very enjoyable afternoon at the IMSS show yesterday and had a good look at some
top class models, some impressive stuff on display, it will be interesting to see what does well in the competition.
Best part of the the day for me was just the chance to chat and catchup with a few of the usual heads.
I did take a few photos of tth competition tables and hope you don't mind if I post a link to them here for
any one who wants to have a look.

Does anyone know if details of the prize winners from the IMMS show has been listed anywhere, just curious to see which models were featured in the final roundup?
I did have a look on the IMMS website but there does not appear to be anything there.
Cheers
