** Admin Edit **

If everyone could add their photo's of the IMSS show to this topic that would be great, thanks.

** End Edit **

Well Im back early ,Im posting just after three pm on Sunday.Im sure judging is barely finished.Anyway sticking up a dozen or so pics and the rest can be seen in my Photobucket folder/s.
Overall impression , an excellent show .The sculpting demo by renowned international visitor , Radek Pituch , was timetabled for 1130 and as the wife's car was in the garage I was on a tight schedule to be back home for 2pm .It was changed to 130 after I arrived so unfortunately I missed it -Anyone got any tips from it?.Panzer 'experte' Hilary Doyle explained that he was literally off the plane from Germany having been exploring a tank 'proving ground' location for the last week .He gave a captivating talk for over an hour , so interesting in fact that I lost track of time and ended up being late home despite best intentions!

While theres been some talk of reduced footfall I was there from before 11am and it seemed lively enough to me .There was plenty to keep ones interest .I only bought a set of micro drill bits and pin vice.Standard of entries was very high .Junior / underage section may have only had three or four entries , but I remember even back in the 80s there were rarely more than two of us competing in the Under16 category at the Dublin Modellers Society annual show .Its a pity those new Airfix 'Lego' sets are so dear ...

Anyway Im drifting-on with the pics !These are some my faves.

Lovely LE Ciara !Small , even in 1/350 !Scratchbuilt?Anyone got any info ?Beauty!

French WW2 tanker (old 60s Heller kit -but the railings are still respectable enough !Were they moulded into hull?) and U Boat Type VIIc .Again gorgeous!

Posted Image

A messageboard fave !

Posted Image

A pair of CHARs -not sure of scales but not the same anyway...interesting paintschemes

Posted Image

The snake camo on this 1/48 Ki46 is awesome -pics dont do it justice.

Posted Image

This knight on a charger model in 1/35/54mm (?) can only be appreciated from the enlarged pics as was the case with many of the other entries in class.Serious magnification or bionic vision surely required in their production .

Posted Image

All my pics are taken on iPhone 4 so not mega quality and have flash .The knight above looked a lot more 'pastel' and less multicoloured in the plastic .The RFC fitter below looked quite small to the naked eye but the details really pop in the enlarged pics .What worksmanship!

Posted Image

Two entries stood out for their ingenuity and imagination .Remember this is the show that gave us the Walshies Dublin Model Shop diorama last year!First up (and once more only really can be appreciated under camera magnification )this entry appeared externally to be a 'black box' , at least from all sides but the 'front' .But it had a german sniper (back lit electrically?) in a room at a windowsill being captured by a GI entering from a hallway/landing .

Posted Image

And then this one !A Gulf War diorama with a tank ON FIRE!!!!Red LEDs(?) and real smoke made it look as if a rival competitor had taken extreme measures to sabotage this entry !Very convincing !Pics DONT do this one justice .

Posted Image

Hard to believe these soviet 'snow buggies' really existed !They seem like something from the movies.

Posted Image

And hard to believe this Spit is 1/144!!!There was another (from same person?) in french markings.

Posted Image

Lots that folks will recognise from these boards here.

Posted Image

Incredible Stringbag !Is it 1/32 or 1/48?

Posted Image

Hilary Doyle's presentation on german WW2 'Sturm' panzers was fascinating .His 'Powerpoint' pics were breathtaking in content and resolution / clarity .I never realised there was so much 'thin air' / empty space in the tracks of some of the early war tanks. No wonder people use metal replacements !

Some nice photo's there, particularly of the Le Ciara. It's small size is impressive but the painted crew are even more impressive considering how tiny they are.

I'm designating this the official gallery for the IMSS 2014 show so everyone can append their pictures onto this topic.

Some nice models, I think, I wouldn't be far off to add that the Renaults FT16 are in 1:35 and 1:16 scales respectively, the Stringbag looks like Trumpeter 1:32 kit and, although it's very well done, that combination of rockets, bombs, depth charges and torpedo just doesn't look right to me - just my opinion...

I believe that we'll see many of those on the Pearse Hotel tables in September, hopefully.

Okay here are my photos on Flickr

It's not comprehensive and lack of space on my hard drive means I couldn't batch edit them and I'm too lazy to do them one by one so some may be a bit dark.

Some of my favourtes from the show were this Captain, 10th Company, Sons of Horus, Space Marine Bust by Glen Phelan
