The Gunner figure was finished off a couple of days ago. Great quality figure like the other two. The only thing missing is his personal weapon- the kit didn't come with one unfortunately but its not that big a deal. It would be unlikely you would see it anyway as if it was on a sling it would probably be around his back or sitting on his chair in the cabin. I finished this fig in the same way as the other two.![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Getting him to fit in the Gunner's hatch proved a bit difficult though. The reason for this, I think, is that on the example on the figure box they appear to have the position traversed to one side- this would allow the figure a greater patch on the stand inside the vehicle (which is broad in the mid section) allowing for an easier positioning. The problem for me was I had my turret at the 12 O'clock position which gives a narrower patch for the Gunner to stand on and it took a bit of trial and error to get him standing correctly and not floating off the stand. In order to do this I had to have his left hand resting on a lower part of the PKP MG mount. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() So the GAZ was now just waiting for the base which I was working on. After letting the dark wash on the base dry I went ahead and laid down two colors of pigments- the same as had been used on the GAZ- dragging them diagonally across the base to suggest dirt left by traffic on the road. Once on the pigments were fixed down with thinner. ![]() The grass was a mix of different tones and in order to get it more natural looking I added some pigments to it which helped bring all the tones together more. ![]() I then mixed up mud using the same products I used on the GAZ along with powdered wall filler and spread it across the base on the areas previously gone over with pigments. I also added random patches of mud here and there. ![]() Last two things for the base were some Dark Mud areas and then, over some of those areas, some Wet Mud. ![]() And that is the base done and ready for the GAZ and the figures. I'll have pictures of the completed scene up soon. Thanks for reading. Edited by Karl187, Aug 21 2014, 05:25 PM.
