1:400 O.R.P. Orzel; Polish Sub WW11

Hi Guys,
this will be my entry into the group build. Michael tells me that its a very old kit and that if he were me he would not have started from here (thanks my little twig). But hey I bought it as a Polish topic so there you go.
The Orzel was build in Holland and launched in 1938. It escaped internment in Tallinn when Germany invaded Poland. It made its way to the UK where it entered service along side the Royal Navy. On one of its first voyages it sank the German ship 'Rio de Janeiro'. It went missing with all hands during the end of May 1940.

Initial reaction is the plastic is very brittle and the detail is so so.

Having built your fair share of pegasus kits I suspect this will present very little challenge to you Joe ;)

Joe, lets face it, detail is non existent ;) I'll watch it closely. It has very interesting history and it's a pity that this crap is the only representation of it in plastic . Good Luck.

Hi Ho, Hi Ho its of to drill I go!!!

Unfortunately things took a decidedly turn for the worst when I began to glue it together. It really is a Wuff Wuff of a kit. ( translation = Dog).

From Drilling to sanding, them some more sanding and guess what some more sanding and I am still only trying to get the upper deck to fit on to the two piece hull!!!!!

Photo's to follow.

Cheers

As MIchael said, don't give up, kits like this that give more "fight" that also give more delight when finish ;)

Dry fit of conning tower and from the close up photo I reckon more sanding required.

Why am I getting a sinking feeling about this one!

Shit just noticed all the tiny holes in the tower, problem with having a good macro on the camera.

After some more work and 3 drill bits 'down the tubes' and gluing the conning tower in-place and filling in the seems with glue (more sanding required).

That's a 1 cent coin that you can just about see the corner off.

Joe try filling with super glue, it's much easier to apply small quantities exactly were you need it. In that scale I wouldn't use anything rougher than 800 ;)

Like Michael said use super glue, or if you prefer use super glue and then drop over talcum powder.

Just a very quick update on the 'Eagle'. I gave it a couple of quick blasts with a rattle can just to see how much more I need to sand. Reasonably happy. Onwards and up wards>

I'm actually a bit further on that this buy want to keep the photo's in sequence.
First go at using my new spray gun. Gave everything a couple of coats of Mr.Kit WW1 German Naval Light Blue Grey. Reasonably happy with it.
