Here is the poster, with details, for Small Plastic Wars, which is on in the Tallaght Civic Theatre next week, from Wednesday to Saturday.

As Pat has announced elsewhere, this is probably the last chance to see the show in Dublin....

If you are going to D4, you can avail of the specially reduced price that has been organised with the theatre - see the bottom right hand side of the poster
for details of how to book (which can be done on-line).

Hope to see you there!

Philip

Hey there...

I'm thinking of entering my P-47D from the French Air Force. It was built out of the box, apart from replacing the prop and drop tank with parts that were accurate for the French version.

Obviously it doesn't qualify for the SK category, but do I enter ASoD or ASoCon? To me it's more of a conversion (as I'm using non-kit parts to depict a different version) than a detailing, as I'm not adding any extra detail that enhances the kit. But I'm not sure.

What do you think? Thanks...

You have to go class above 'Box builds' to join the normal people in normal class, Jason :P BTW it's not, really, a conversion, it's not ,really, a detailing, just direct replacement parts... But, I think, we've been there before :adolf:

I am in similar position, I have two guys standing beside vehicle on a small, plain, grass base and don't know what to do with them... One could argue that those are the crew of the vehicle, from the other hand one could argue that this is a 'diorama'. I am thinking of leaving them behind, so...

Jason, I would just put it in SK and see if anyone would notice the difference (I'm betting tenner that no one would) ;) Obviously you can't really do it now after disclosing that compromising information......

To be fair Michael, I think you're right, you'd have to really know your stuff to know that the French Air Force (and in particular the aircraft I represented) had a different Prop and Drop Tank to the one that comes with the kit. The drop tank at least looks a little different, but you'd barely notice the difference in the Prop.

But, like you say, I'm not the type of person to try to get away with it, hence asking on here! ;)

If anyone coming to the show on Saturday or Sunday would like to clear out their stash of old modelling magazines I'll happily take tham at the door. We give them out to any kids coming in and they have always been very well received.

Thanks
Sean

What time do we start setting things up on Saturday? I'd like to plan my journey the way I can be useful before we open to the public on Saturday morning.

Hi Michael.

The place opens to the public at 10 am both days. We have the hotel available to us from 8 am, and the kit swop registration opens for members at 9.
In terms of competition, this opens for registration from 10.

In terms of volunteering, I do know that Sean Mullarkey would welcome people to assist on the entry door during the day, and Pat may need some folks to assist with competition registration in the morning on Saturday and with judging in the afternoon.

(Volunteers for the kitswop will be from those selling, so no worries there if you are not selling anything ;) )

Even though this has been marked on the calendar for months now, it seems that for me this year it just not meant to be :(

Ah well guess it will give me more time and models to prepare for next year for display.

I wish everyone well who enters or just displays and hope it a great event.

Can I just ask that someone takes loads of photos.

Your gut feeling is right Jason- from my reading of the rules it fits with Any Source Converted (ASoCON).

What forms do you fill out if you're not an ipms member and want to take part in the open competition? I'd like to enter civilian vehicles.

The same forms as IPMS member. The only difference is that you'll leave the 'IPMS Membership' and/or 'Club affiliation' box blank - and you'll pay 3 yoyos /?/ entry fee on top of the pay-per-model-charge, which is payable by all entrants.

Entry form is here

Hope that you'll get my drift :book:

Hi Pat,

Thanks for confirming that, it's what I reckoned. Of course, it does mean my build could be up against scratch-built stuff etc., but what can you do? :)

Thanks...
