Hi folks, sorry if this is the wrong place to put this thread I'm not sure where it goes. Basically I'm looking to find Styrofoam sheets that are used to make the likes of buildings and roads for dioramas. It's really fine and not like the styrofoam used for packaging. Typically it comes it sheets that are pink and blue. Does anyone know where to find it for sale here in Ireland? I've looked in various hardware and hobby shops but can't find any. So yeah, if someone could point me in the direction of where to get it that would be great. Cheers |

I know the stuff you're talking about and you can get fantastic results. Here's a piece by german Modeller Alex Friedrich https://www.facebook.com/alex.friedrich.7/media_set?set=a.4982912907257.1073741846.1732528019&type=1 Unfortunately I've never seen it in Ireland. We tend to use the more open pore yellow insulation board, which you stll get good results from, here's an example over on Britmodeller http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/47420-my-1st-ever-diorama-payback-photo-heavy/ there's usually plenty of the yellow stuff discarded in skips whereever building or renovation is going on Edited by Parkadge, Jan 18 2015, 04:39 PM.

Heil Mickey!

They are selling insulation styrofoam for use on floors. It's pale green, light pink or yellow in colour. It can be cut and it's sturdy enough as well. Any builder's yards should have those. If that's what you are looking for:![]() |

I managed to source some insulation as described above and I've found it to be pretty good for making building and such! Got pointed in their direction by my local builder providers. It's a company in Baallycoolin called U Value insulation. They're a providers of insulation and dry wall. Brand is Fibran xps. A sheet 1250mm x 600mm x 20mm is 3 euro w/o VAT. Comes to 3.69 all together. Had a bit of a play around with a small piece and made this. http://i.imgur.com/zZUzQuO.jpg |

To cut out the windows I used a stanley knife and the brickwork was done with a hobby knife and set square. It's a nice material to work with, I like it. Think I'll be using more for buildings surrounding my armour. It adds to it, like adding another dimension to a kit. Think I'm going to be making more dioramas when this group build is done haha |
