We had a bit of chat about future of our only IPMS Ireland regional competition during our today's Branch meeting and this is what we came up with: We have decided to move the competition date to go together with Atlantic Air Museum open day, which is being held each year, on the last Sunday in August. The venue is buzzing with people on that day, there's small air show in the afternoon, military folks with their guns and trucks are in for the day, Shannon Airport Fire Service and their engine, some vintage cars, ice cream van, music, vendors... I'll make it official, once the date is confirmed, nevertheless, I can't see any issues as we are having display in the 'glasshouse' on that day anyway:

So,. let's make it official: Modelling Munster 2015, Saturday 29th of August 10.00 - 14.00 Classes and condition as last year and they are listed on Modelling Munster page. As you might have noticed, there is change from previously announced Sunday. The reason being that Atlantic Air Museum in Shannon is, unfortunately, not having their open day this year. Nevertheless, plenty to see on the spot even without the extra add-ons. Edited by FiSe, Apr 5 2015, 08:21 AM.

So as of yesterday, it is official:![]() As I have mentioned in my previous post, there will, unfortunately, not be Atlantic Airventure Open day, due to air shows in Foynes and Shannon Airport, which compete for funding and public attention with each other in the area. That shouldn't dampen our spirit, the weather was very good on that weekend over the last few years, so hopefully, we will be blessed with a bit of sunshine again this year and there will be plenty of time to explore outside exhibits as well as models on the competition tables. More details in due course

Small update: I have said before, that Atlantic Airventure Centre will not have their open day this year, well, after having a chat yesterday after our Mid-West Branch meeting with Jane from the Centre, things look slightly differently now. There will be no flyovers on that day, but they are planning to have all the aircraft cockpits open, they will have their flight simulators open to punters - for a fee, they are planning to have vintage car and motorbike display outside and so on... So it looks like a nice and busy day as we have got used to it over the last few years. Hopefully the weather will hold. Edited by FiSe, Aug 2 2015, 09:49 AM.

Filip + Boys from Munster, Great stuff, good luck with the show. Its this sort of regional event which does so much for the profile of the hobby and by default the IPMS organisation. Bringing the message to the people and all of that. More power to you all. Regards Brian |

There is, somewhere... I think, anyway, the MM website is 'temporarily unavailable', so can't check if it is online. I'll look into it, at some stage. |

Hi Gregor, I think that we'll have to see what can be done about it on the day. We didn't get enough of particular models in this class to justify that break down. Nevertheless, if there will be enough of entries to justify that, we can do something about it, as for now, we'll leave the classes as they are now. Not sure about the Modelling Munster webpage, it looks like, that it's not working properly for the last few days...or at least I am getting message that 'server is busy...' Couldn't happen in the worst possible time. Free hosting and all that... |

One week to go on the dot. Weather pending, we should have some nice motorbikes on display as well as classic cars and the usual aviation stuff, cockpits will be open to view and inspect. I am still chasing the best donuts in Ireland from Galway, hoping that they will be there as well. And folks from Limerick Branch of RBL will, hopefully make it again this year. |

Hi everybody Five days left for competition. That will be our first time in Shannon to meet the people who they loves the same passions. We will represent Tralee. Today, after a meeting with colleagues we decided to bring 4 battleship for competition. We have not made a decision concerning armored vehicles. Transportation organized so almost ready. Fise wrote on the forum that the decision on additional division may be taken the day of competition, so my question is how many models must be lest there was a break down. We also cant find result from last year 2014. We read that in 2013 was 13 boats. If there is a website or some file with result. If somebody can put them on the forum will be nice. We were never in competition in Shannon, therefore wonders whether we were once issued battleships, whether this year will be the first such visit. At what time should we arrive to prepare models and entry forms. We come with children, if there will be a place for some meals. I'm sorry that they ask so many questions, but during meetings with colleagues they still ask me and I'm not always able to answer them. ![]() Pleasantly will meet new people and make new friends Thanks Edited by gregor252, Aug 24 2015, 02:28 AM.

I thought I have posted the results on the web, but, I didn't. Just never got around it, I suppose... There weren't as many ships last year as in 2013, in fact, there were only 2 and those were the only 2 entries in the 'F' class. There were only 2 entries in the E1 and E class, respectively, as well... Hence the reason for changing the date in a hope that the show will attract more modellers and we could populate those classes a bit more. As I've said, if we'll agree on the day that there should be a new class created, we'll do it on the day, probably in the shape of doubling the awards in the class. So, there will be 2 golds, 2 silvers, 2 bronzes. One of each going to the, say, ships, or something along the lines. We have a few medals extra, so no problem. So, don't worry, Gregor, we'll see and we'll have a chat about it, once the models are on the table. It's a small show and there's always a way, because the will is there too It would be nice to have at least 3 entries in each class as bare minimum, which could prove a bit optimistic even in the larger competitions. Arriving between 10-11AM would be ideal, to have everything on the tables in good time. The place is opening for public at 10AM, but we don't have to have all ready by that time. Cost is mentioned in the rules, just to refresh it again: - 6 Euro per modeller - that's the enter charge for the Museum - 1 Euro per each model entered - that's charged by Mid-West Branch and it helps with the financial cost of running the competition. To give an example: 5 models entered - 6 Euro /museum entry fee/ + 5 Euro /5models entered, 1 Euro each/ = 11 Euro total cost Hope that's of some help Looking forward to see you on Saturday Edited by FiSe, Aug 24 2015, 09:47 AM.
