There's Oakwood Arms hotel just beside the venue, 2mins walk and Sky Court Shopping Centre down the road as well.
There's tea/coffee available on the spot with nice airliner type seating on the balcony overlooking some of the museum's interior - and I am still hoping to get the biggest donuts in the country on the day as well - not promising anything

RBL - Royal British Legion

I was trying to get Munster Fusiliers Association, ONE and IUNVA involved as well, but had no reply.

Morning with rain, now it's clearing up and the sun breaks through the clouds, no wind... Should be a nice day.

Enjoyable day down at MM but the turnout was quite small unfortunately. Too many modellers must be rugby fans or water protestors πŸ˜‰

About 35 models on the tables. I'll get the photos up later.
But thanks to Filip & co for organising the show and the crew in Air Venture for hosting it. A very interesting venue to browse around.

Best in Show was this incredible 1/200 paper model of HMS King George V by gregorz252 on the forum hereΒ

The other ships were by himself and his colleague Stan and they ckeaned up in the "anything else" category. I think they are planning a major fleet action at the Nationals.

Alan, Filip & Liam got the Bronze, Silver & Gold for the aircraft but I'm afraid they will have to say what was whose! Alan also won the Air Venture trophy for one of his Spitfires.

The 3 dioramas are by a young teenager, Jake, as well as two of the planes. He will also be attending the Nationals. And this Spit was by 5 year old Moses

So the Mid-west Branch are certainly nurturing the future generations.

All the pictures can be seen here:

And personally I got bronze for my RG-31 & gold for my Engineer Stryker. Chuffed!

Well done Sean, for your wins - the Stryker was a great tour de force.

Photos show some good stuff on display - looking forward to seeing those ships at D4 too!

Hi there Gregor

At the D4 competition, there is a specific "juniors" class reserved for entries by people under 16 years of age. There are three medals - a gold, a silver and a bronze, and often there are also commendation certificates.

These should all encourage the young ones. Last year, there were three medals and two commendations in the juniors class.
You can see the full results for last year (D3) and also the previous year (D2) here:- http://www.ipmsireland.com/Events.html

Looking forward to meeting you at D4

Philip
