The auction is open to anyone to put kits into. The club takes a small percentage of the final price but I don't know how much

Pat - will you put my name down, please.

Folks, I went there last year, and it was good fun - I recommend it.

Just putting some stickers on items here .Getting excited about this .Must take ages to finish if items are not 'bundled' , or do they have a 'fast talkin' auctioneer ?I have easily on the high side of 10-20 items .Anyway should be great craic (assuming I dont fall asleep -up since 555am to get car to early NCT retest -thankfully passed -been doing little else for last 2-3 days than working on its blasted back brakes )

John - I thought about bringing some items to sell myself, but then I remembered that we have the kitswop :-" at D4 in September.

So all I am bringing tonight is some cash.......I suspect that I may bring something home, and have less cash by the end of the night ;)

Thanks for the idea, but no, I won't. To do that I would have to go home after work is over at 5.30, rummage through a lot of boxes, put prices on them and then drive back in to Dublin by 8.15 from Naas - all on the evening of a bank holiday weekend. No chance!

No - I'll just bring the cash! ;)

Well....

An interesting (and very enjoyable) night. We were very much welcomed (John and I) to the meeting, and the auction was quite loud and at times frenetic.

Most of what was on offer consisted of vehicles or figures (one figure - worth about €200 - went for about €60, but the bulk of the prices paid was much lower).
Some of the items at auction were there without reserve prices, while others had preserve prices (which meant that some of the latter didn't sell at all). Davy
Coyne was the auctioneer, and he was great craic with his comments and asides, and he kept things moving. Pat bagged a few boxes, including a Tamiya
Sherman......

There were few enough "wingy things" (to use Pat's expression) on offer. However, I managed to bag this item - an all-resin kit of an obscure French bomber
trainer from 1937 in 1:72nd scale - for €3.50:-

There was more competition for this Pacific Coast Models kit in 1:48th, which went up from the reserve of €5 with furious bidding from myself and another guy
all the way up to €22, when he finally gave in:-

I have since found out that the retail price of this kit is well over €40, so I call that a bargain. It has Eduard photoetch, a lot of resin pieces, including a detailed
engine, and a set of Sky decals, covering 15 marking options. Most importantly, it allows me to model the G 50 as used in the Spanish Civil War , which are
three of the 15 options :>

I managed to slip in the items quietly through the door when I arrived home at 11.25 pm (herself had gone to bed by that stage!!) ;)

Well worth the trip alright will definintely return next year if not sooner .Unique venue in NCOs mess in a working irish army barracks .Sold a bit , bought a bit less ...I may have bought first item up for sale on the night a set of old Zvezda 1/35 Artillery crewmen (and a lone lady) for three to go with the set Id already got from Telford last year .Next I spent two euro on this chap (an "Italo Norman")

in unassembled metal from Fruli (yes the track people from Italy)

Worth at least 15 euro if not 20 .

Also picked up a job lot of three or four Tamiya /Dragon 1/35 figure boxes (some part used/incomplete as advised by auctioneer) for a fiver .Bargains all round !

The highlight of the night as Philip said was a bidding war for a 120mm (metal ?)Samurai on Horse , it went for 65 in the end .

Thanks to IMSS guys for a warm welcome , see you at your annual show in May .
