The question is in the title really! What do you do with your models once they're built? Hang them from the ceiling? Display them in the house? Sell them? Blow them up (I must admit, I never understood this one). I used to have around 40 models when I was younger but I found myself running out of space, and I was only doing 1/72 aircraft mostly! |

IKEA display cabinet for those that will fit (and that are good enough). The rest stored in the attic until I can get another display cabinet. Dermot Edited by Dermot, Apr 20 2015, 10:58 PM.

On shelves in the "spare" room which also hosts my work corner. As the shelves get filled up the older ones go into boxes in the attic to make room for the newer. Probably got about 20 on the shelves. Unfortunatly it does mean the collect quite a bit of dust.... |

Mine are also sitting on a small bookshelf getting dusty, soon to be packed in boxes as I move house again and will probably stay in the boxes for quite a while ![]() I like having them where I can see them though, so I will probably look into a more permanent display area for them. |

While I did the whole destructive ending thing as a kid involving flames and terminal dives from second storey bedroom window ( (un)fortunately never had access to explosives/gunpowder although I've heard of some who HAD) it always broke my heart to 'store' built kits .I think I'd nearly sooner sell them .Display space becoming an issue here at home ( fortunately build rate very slow).Which Ikea model did you get Dermot? The basic , all glass 50 euro job .Id near sooner have a press 'beneath 'display for my airbrush &compressor .You moving far Smelly Ogre? With yourself , Joe and Simon , we could almost start our own sub-branch out this way !

Hey - be careful there! A Kildare Branch might be an option at some point, but you would have to include Jason and myself in Naas, and Sean M in Athy. Can't have the north Kildare lads setting up their own sub-branch before there is even a Kildare branch...... Actually, I am happy to be with the Dubs. Philip |

The glass IKEA cabinets were where I first began to store stuff apart from on shelves in small perspex cases. I still use them to store models- they are cheap and reliable- but the problem I find is they are not very airtight and they let in a lot of dust- plus you can only get like one 1/48 plane or a an A4 sized 1/35 dio to each shelf. I ended up buying two wood and glass display cabinets from a local furniture company- they have deeper and wider shelves, keep out the dust and are much more sturdy than the IKEA units. |

I will be moving to Clondalkin, even though I like Celbridge, rent prices are too high. |

Hi I have 3 shelves, which I display my models in. I got two of them in Argos and the other I found in the waste area of our apartment block. I also have some older models in boxes. A couple of years ago I had to clear out some old models from my parents house, so any that were not broken or taken I gave to the staff in the waste recycling. There was a lot as I’ve been making models since I was about 7. I know the shelves in Ikea are cheaper, but I liked the one from Argos. IPMS UK have a 15% discount listed on its Membership Benefits web page for a UK company that sells the same shelves. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Some nice display cabinets on the dungdeal and adverts, now and then, in the shopfitting/office sections. If you are after some glass units. It pays to keep an eye on those as well. |
