Pat - any chance that they recorded the demos on video?

Good to meet up today with some of you and hope you enjoyed the raffle & show. The competition standard was amazing and well done to Jason on his award for his Red Bull F1 car.

Will post some photos in the photo log.

Cheers,
Dermot

Ah great stuff at least Jason didn't have to jump under the table and cry! ;)

Yeah great to catch up with and have a chat and like dermot said the standard was really really good( some very very poor) and a certain couple of Star Wars speeders really stood up to some tough handling today :bat:

Sorry Dermot. I did think of it half way through but I was in a crap spot with a crappy camera. The demo was very good.

I had to dash off just as the prize giving began. What did Jason get?

Thanks lads... Was pleasantly surprised to get a Commendation for my Red Bull RB8, not bad for my first ever car.

Also heard FiSe's name several times, with at least one Gold (maybe more) and the other name I recognised was Joe Maxwell picking up a medal too, so well done lads.

As Dermot said, a very high standard, some excellent builds that I was surprised to see only get Bronze or Silver, which only goes to show how good the other builds were...

It was an excellent show. Well done to Jason on getting a gong. The standard was very high. I heard the name Filip Servit quite a number of times...I suspect quite a lot of metal will be heading down in the direction of Clare soon. The contingent from North of the border was there in strength too - and many of the models that picked up prizes at D3 also got awards today.

For me the best model in the show was Radu Brinzan's Horten - absolutely brilliant!

Some good traders too...

There is no kitswop at this show, but there is a raffle. I decided to buy 40 tickets for the raffle (total cost €16) and was very lucky to win three items - the new Airfix 1:48th scale Hurricane Mark 1 (retail cost €25.99), an aircraft painting stand in wood by Sphere Products (one of which Murfv had with him when he gave the Dublin Chapter a demo on airbrushing last year) (retail price £15), and a big selection of scribers and cutters from RB productions (retail price all told about €60). I make that €100 worth for an investment of €16. As you can imagine I was well pleased!! Even SWMBO accepted this particular addition to the stash.... :-"

Heil Mickey!
Just got a word from Danny, he, apparently, went up and down 7 times on my behalf during the award giving ceremony. Haven't got a clue what has been awarded and how, but that's a bit steep. :O

Not that I would be complaining

Three wins from €16( 8 strips of tickets)?! Well as me dear ole gran used say 'the divil's childer has their father's luck '!My five strips bore no fruit despite being assured by all and sundry that I couldn't loose . Bah humbug !

Was your secret Philip , to mix colours of strips as I was invited to do by the seller ?i stuck doggedly with red/pink .

Well done to Filip.

Well, since he was standing with me for most of them and didn't budge when they called out your name repeatedly, you might need to check that little story out, Filip.

Anyhow, I'm sure he went up at the end to collect your precious metals, and will drop them over to you soon / at the next Mid-West meeting.......I seem to recall that there's some GOLD among them..

Congrats on all your wins - well merited!

Naah, John - I stuck to good old blue. This made checking the callouts from the top table that much easier - if it was red, or pink, or peach, or yellow, or green, I didn't need to look. (I recall that Jack S bought only five tickets (one strip) and landed a rather large kit worth about €50, so his "kill rate" was, proportionately, better than mine..) :-"

But it WAS indeed a nice haul..... :D

(Last year, like yourself, I got nothing from four strips.....)

Nope - Stephen Nolan got that one....(in fairness, he did later donate me the decals, as he was finishing the kit in alternative markings)
