After reviewing further pictures of rocket and real raccoons I just wasn't happy with the level of white on the face. Decided to make the white round his nose and mouth slightly more solid and the same with the white above his eyes and mask. This might need a bit more blending now, but I'm certainly more happy with the level of white. In truth it looks heavier in the photo than it does in person, least in my opinion. Teeth have now also been painted.![]() Rocket WiP by Manxman, on Flickr ![]() Rocket WiP by Manxman, on Flickr ![]() Rocket WiP by Manxman, on Flickr ![]() Rocket WiP by Manxman, on Flickr Also a bit more blending in of his tails rings. ![]() Rocket WiP by Manxman, on Flickr Blaster is progressing nicely too, with first layer of the colour detailed parts now complete. The black and steel won't need a second coat, but the brass sections will. ![]() Rocket WiP by Manxman, on Flickr Saying that though just looking at the picture of the blaster, I just realised I missed the inner pads of the stock, those three should be black too, ah well will get them on the next time at the bench. Thanks for still following and all comments good or bad gratefully received:) |

Modelling for fun

Looking good so far Pete although I would probably put a little more brown above the snout, between the eyes and eyebrows. That is just personal preference though. |

Padriag, I think you are right as that is one area it needs more blending. Cheers Dermot. |

Personally I would go for a darker wash and some good old fashioned dry brushing. Curious about the paws all the pics I've looked at show them grey brown |

Pat I understand the point about the paws. I'd say half the pictures I have, show his feet at brown with greyish fur lying over the top. The other half his paws are black and thin wispy brown fur lying over. It's one of these I'm using as a base line cause I'll be honest the paw molds are very smooth and a plain black seemed easier option with maybe one or two very thin brown lines brushed on to try to replicate the look. Although artistic license might prevail and I could just stick with the plain matted black feet, haven't really decided yet. But as this a first for me I'm willing to try new stuff too, so all suggestion gratefully received and considered. |

Heil Mickey!

Yeah, dry-brushing is the way forward. Starting with darker shade and finish with almost white for the very top hairs, that should work nicely. You have a great base for it now, as it is. |

Cheers guys, the tips and feedback is great to help. ![]() Well after 4 coats of Matt Varnish on the paws these are now ready to try to give a light wispy brown fur effect too ![]() Rocket WiP by Manxman, on Flickr And for the eagle eyed, yes the area between the eyes and top of the nose has been fixed with a bit more base brown, this now just needs to be blended back in with the dry brushing. |
