Well, I have, actually, 3 figures ready, but I am not sure if I will use the infantryman. He's in Waffen SS uniform and I am not sure if I'll have use for him any time soon, but we'll see. I just might get him nice and colourful coat for the future.

For now, I have 2 CMK resin figures ready for this Group Build, each represents late war German SPG crew member. Both are based on photographs taken in May 1945 during German retreat towards US line. Both are very nicely sculpted and with very nice details. Not too much of gluing, just a couple of separate parts and only very little clean-up was required:

Filip, nice subject, the casting look clean and detailed. Looking forward to following this and seeing what you do with the paint work :)

I like CMK figures though some of the poses can be awkward. These look great especially the seated fig.

Funny, I always thought that they are based on some members of the Adams Family. And I never bought one, so those are the first ones. I knew I have to get them as soon as I've seen them mentioned in on one of the Czech modelling forums. They have another Hetzer crewman sitting on top of the vehicle, in the same quality as these three fellas and I will have to look into it. My little OOB Academy Hetzer cries out to be populated - once finished ;)

After degreasing and drying, priming with Mr.Surfacer 1000 could commence. It's incredible how any imperfection becomes visible. Those figures looked like spotless casts, not so under the layer of this Grey primer. Some blobs on yer man's face and a few bubbles popped-out, something which has not been noticeable by naked eye on raw resin. Nothing serious though, a small amount of precisely applied superglue and a few strokes with sharp blade will take care of it:

What about the rest of you, still not using primer before the painting process commence?

I always prime figures. Mostly with warhammer Citadel White spraycan. As you say t shows up any imperfections and gives a better surface for the paint to bite on

Wow I thought you'd put black marker tip spots all over it .There really ARE a fair few imperfections in mould .

Those bubbles aren't as obvious as on the photos, but they are there and that uniform Grey primer really makes those pop. But, as I've said, nothing serious.

I had a few minutes of spare time on my hands today and I've blasted Black basecoat on the couple:

I thought that I will be able to use this dark base as pre-shading, Those guys will be half submerged in a 'tank' and I thought that I could leave the legs blending into the dark to make them less obvious when viewing through the hatch once fitted to their positions. Not any other reason really...

And while at it, having airbrush in my fist, some mix of dirty Green has been applied on trousers and hats, some sort of lighter Grey has been used for highlights and on the faces and Gunze 'Sail' colour was sprayed on the overall - as I've been told, standard Luftwaffe summer issue:

Haven't done too much on those little fellas. But even with what has been done so far, they starting to look like some sort of figures, which could go nicely with their gun on tracks.

A few layers of dry brushing over the dark base and one layer of filter with oil paints. Just to pick some details, like belts, holsters, piping, buttons and, perhaps another filter on the Black jacket and the uniforms are done:

Not a bad couple of evenings... One night I have done the Red piping and details on the hats, although I haven't posted photo of the other head and painted belts and pistol holsters. Second night was face painting. Nothing complicated, just some oils mixed together and brushed over the base, then some lighter shade to add highlights. It worked OK and I think that the dark base with white dry brushing helped a lot. As did the simple single colour uniforms.

Now, I'll let it sit for a few days, then I'll chop the remaining parts from the block, glue it together, then eyes and final details and done...

They are looking cool Filip and at this rate you'll be finished well before the rest of us and setting a very high standard to follow :)

Well, I am calling those two little dudes done.
It was easy sailing all along. There are no seam lines to worry about and those few tiny bubbles left are not noticeable to a naked eye. There was no messing with camouflage, no some extra add-ons with multiple colours. Just single colour uniforms and some flesh tones. Excellent sculpting makes painting sooooo much easier and I, personally, don't mind too much to pay that extra few bobs for high quality resin figure, because of that.

They will be stuck in their base - which will be Academy Hetzer - so, any imperfections will be hidden. I suppose, it depends, how the Hetzer will turn out at the end, these two fellas could, actually, save the model - or it could be the other way around ;)
