I might add in one or two figures from the tamiya WW1 British Infantry set depending on how the time goes.
Tomorrow I'll tackle the trench so that I can fit the figures as I build them

Pat, looks a great set, I'm impressed that Masterbox included a little trench as the sets I've looked at only just ever are the figures.

Looking forward to following this.

That trench is very tidy, but it looks like a great base for some DIY

Exactly Filip. There'll be a lot of DIY involved. :>

I'm going to throw some of the figures in these two kits into the mix

Between the three kits I'm using and this one

There are five officers and I also have one from the old ICM set so I may do a dio of an Officer's field briefing as well

Too long away from this

I made a base to go on a picture frame from Ikea. I used a sand bag wall from Model Cellar that I found in my stash

I cut some insulating foam to shape and glued it in place with my trusty hot glue gun
Posted ImageIMG_2597 by Pat McGrath, on Flickr

I also added a dugout entrance to the back wall of the trench too.
Posted ImageIMG_2598 by Pat McGrath, on Flickr

I added a layer of paper and pva glue and I’ll put a layer of coloured plaster over that

Looking good.It always amazes me how well simple building material can be used for diorama purposes.
A couple of years ago there was zero choice in WWI figures and now look what's on offer.
By the way who produces the second set of figures in post #5 above ( 1914)
Regards

Yes I think there are at least 7 sets of British/Commonwealth figures on offer now.
The second set are from ICM and they're great but they are on the big side. In fact they tower over the Tamiya figures but then people come in all shapes and sizes

Hmm maybe 8 or 9. I'm not sure about that hole. My rationale is that it burst the trench wall which was rebuilt with sandbags but then it would be partly filled in so ......we'll see

Being a WW1 devotee really looking forward to seeing this one develop's, and I an sure that you will really do it justice.

I had such high hopes for my participation in this campaign but I'm not going to get there. Instead I've been involved in a project making a large scale 1/24 scale replica of old Ballymun including the seven towers and thirty odd other buildings and we're up against the wire to get it done so I have been neglecting this build. Hopefully I'll get it done as part of the KUTA build.

...well you can always transform it into Somme for the forthcoming Ireland 1916-23 GB.

Great bit of lateral thinking there Filip. Yes Pat that would be killing 2 birds with one stone. The Somme, Messeine Ridge/Wijschate ( prelude to the 3rd Battle of Ypes)or the near annilation of the 16th Irish in April 1918 during the German offensive at St Quentin. Loads of possibilities.
