Folks The hall layout for Scale Model World in Telford, coming up in a couple of weeks' time, is now up on the SMW website. As before, we have two tables (by 2 deep) in the overseas area. A couple of changes this year, the biggest of which is that the competition area is now upstairs. The place in which it was located previously is now to be used to host the Kitswop. The other change, as you can see from the map below, is that hall 3, where the overseas area is located, is also the main way in to the show, so that should mean greater footfall past our table. ![]() Philip Edited by Prenton, Oct 18 2015, 10:24 PM.

Does that mean Kitswop is in an even smaller area ? Pointless trying to get near it unless queueing from 830am latest Id guess .Even at near closing time last year it took about 15 minutes to get items through tills /checkouts .Witnessed a strange scene when an elderly lady seemed to be 'having a bad turn 'as her middle aged son lingered ever longer in the Kit Swop .I don't know which of them was more vexed in the end ! Getting close now anyway ,exciting !Might try do the 2 days next year . Edited by fs2005, Oct 18 2015, 07:57 PM.

I plan to try and enter two model into the competition, if I can get them finished. But it's not going to good still painting them. |

Finely timed Philip, This time 3 weeks, it will be all over. Yes, the competition area is on the move, personally, I thought the arrangement in recent years was a farse, way too small to allow all to appreciate the entries. I, for one while a very amateur photographer with my cheapy digital camera considered the walk round going ohh ahh at the quality of the entries an integral part of the whole Telford experience. Been attending on and off since 2000, my favourite Competition area location always was hall 3, I suppose it just shows how much the whole thing has grown that now all three halls are jammers. Still, wouldn't miss it for the world!

John I'd say, going by the map (which is roughly OK, though perhaps not to a scale that an architect (or a spatial planner ) would recognise), that the kitswop area in 2015 is about the same size, or perhaps slightly larger, than it was in past years. The good thing, of course, is that the queue to get in to the kitswop will now be in that hallway/circulation area outside Hall 1, and not within one of the main exhibition halls themselves.I joined the queue at about 9 am two years' ago, and got in to the kitswop within 10 minutes of opening (that is, about 9.40 am). The problem is actually, as you mention, the queue to get things you have picked up out via the tills and checkouts...that took more than 40 minutes. I do wish that they would organise it so that people with 20 items or less to buy get a separate checkout queue from the guys with loads of stuff in large boxes (clearly re-sellers )... that would probably speed things up, but in any event would certainly help our humour....One tip - go first to the side tables where the decals and small accessories are, and THEN look at the kits. Most customers go straight for the kits, but there are better bargains/finds in the decals and smaller accessories section, IMHO. Philip Edited by Prenton, Oct 18 2015, 10:33 PM.

Philip Has any thought been given to models for the table this year(Who is bringing/sending stuff over to display, what subjects etc.)? As I am heading over, I'm sure I can bring a few items along on behalf of people, provided they are suitably packed for transport. Vincent |

Hi Vincent, I'm sending some "targets" for the club table with Narayan. Will be discussing the logistics on Saturday at the Dublin meeting |

I'm also bringing over some items on behalf of the Mid-West branch. They will have to confirm exactly what though! Graham |

Even after several years now every single mention of that branch name puts me in mind of farmers' daughters ...( I'm more Dave Lee Roth vintage than Beach Boys though ) |

Following the discussion at Saturday's Dublin Chapter meeting, the club exhibit will be "anchored" by Dermot and Barry's excellent "watching the bear" diorama, that won the Peoples' Choice Award at D4. There will be some targets from Sean (and from FiSe?), and some aircraft from Vincent, Ken and from the Mid-west folks. Anyone else want to contribute to the display?? There will also be flyers for D5. Philip |

Filip No problem - that's up to you. Whatever the IPMS Ireland members from the Mid-West branch are sending are coming via Graham (Narayan) and we can sort them out when we are setting up the table on the Friday afternoon at Telford. Philip Edited by Prenton, Oct 25 2015, 06:57 PM.
