Hi Michael,
as they say, when a man said he'll do something, he'll do something.... No need to remind him every six months :)

Working version:

Filip it's not six months yet and i haven't reminded you yet ;) I love the concept and thank you. If i may have a suggestion....
That boar doesn't look like it could even scratch Diarmuid haha could you pyt more mean bastard looking one there. You know "I eat barbed wire and piss the napalm" type. Maybe put him on the chessboard or at least black and white background. If i'm bitching too much just leave it as it is ;) Thanks again.

Ok, so another variations, I have made him a bit meaner, if that is not enough I will have to scrap that head and start from scratch.
I am not sure about the checkerboard background. That head is complicated design and it would fight with that background, in my opinion and I think that the script sits much better on this variant then on the first one:

I like the colour variation in option C, nevertheless, I will have to look at it for a while, and let it simmer for some time to see if something hits me.

Cheers :>

Can I ask, what is the significance of the boars head in the context of the Sligo twig?

Literally beat me to ask that question by moments ! The mythological Diarmuid
reference is very impressive , then again your M surname is shared with the Countess .C gets my vote also . On a slightly related note Tuthills newsagent in Liffey Valley Centre .....Dublin... had three Sligo ( ONLY Sligo ....)county circular mats /rugs maybe 40-65cm for €2.99 reduced from €10 . Seemed like a lot of carpet for the money :-)

as Wikipedia will say...

County Sligo Coat of Arms:
This crest was adopted by Sligo County Council in 1980. The design on the black shield, which shows an open book on which there is a Celtic Cross and a red rose, represents collectively the literary and cultural history of Sligo. These refer to such early works as the Books of Ballymote and Lecan, while the rose was a significant theme in the poetry of W.B.Yeats. The escallop shells sprinkled on the shield refer to the origin of the word Sligeach -- "a place abounding in shells". The boar's head refers to the "wild boar of Benbulben" in the Diarmuid and Gráinne myth.

...although use of the escalopes is challenged as historically incorrect, nobody is challenging the use of Boar's head. Well, up to now anyway...

The colours are reversed on the boar's head in the 'twig logo', nonetheless the Black / White and Red colours are easily recognisable as belonging to Sligo.

Option A, I don't like the white outside.... And would be even better if the bakground was 50-50 black and white ;)
The Boar is mean enough though.

Cool, the background is based on WWI propeller logo, but it's not quite what I wanted to be. But at least I know where to go with it.
I have another idea for the background... Just don't have time to tune it. Leave it with me for a while, I should be able to do something on it on Friday/Saturday, hopefully.

Ok, latest two versions. I am split between those two, I don't want to go over complicated, as the boar's head should be the main figure on that logo. At the same time, that B&W color combo is very strong on its own and could easily overkill that main motif, so tough challenge to make it look right.
I like the diamond shape background on one, but I do like the integrity of the other one... Now, your call, Mike:

B/ Posted Image

I agree with you wholeheartedly ;) But I prefer integrity of the B option. I don't really have anything to add to it, so unless you have any other ideas, I'd call option B the final and approved version of the SLIGO TWIG logo.
Yay-Nay? ;)

PS: Unless you can make the whole thing rhomboidal and put one word on each side of it??
PS2: yaeh right, the TWIG is in the way of that option.....
