This will be the official thread for D5 - the IPMS Ireland Nationals 2016*. Here will will find all the details of the show.

First, here is the flyer that has been printed:-

This gives the basic details about the show, including the prices, the times etc. You will see the flyer in a model shop near you shortly.

Secondly, we designed a large banner, which is about 4ft high, and this will be appearing at any events that we attend over the next number of months (it had its first outing at Telford last November).

We have also created a facebook events page for the show, which you can find here:-

TRADERS

The first piece of news is that we have new traders booked for 2016, who are as follows:-

Gideon Miniatures

you can find them at:- https://www.facebook.com/gideon.miniatures/

Mushroom Model Publications

you can find them at:- https://www.facebook.com/mushroomModelPublications/

and at:- http://www.mmpbooks.biz/

More news will be added to the thread, as we receive it.

Philip

*There was an earlier thread, back in October, 2015, where we made the announcement, but that thread strayed off into a discussion about the
design of the flyer and the banner, and I thought it more appropriate to set up a new thread which relates solely to the show.

Another piece of news. Gary Wenko, the IPMS (UK) Overseas Liaison Officer, is also one of the leaders of the Japanese SIG (Special Interest Group).

He will be coming to D5, and will be bringing some models from the SIG to mount a display at our show.

Folks

We have now received accommodation prices for the Plaza Hotel. They have reserved 20 rooms for people going to the show, at the following prices:-

Friday BB - 104.00 twin /double, 96.50 single
Saturday BB - 122.00 twin/double, 114.50 single
Sunday BB - 73.50 twin/double, 66.00 single

If you are interested, please make it known, when booking, that you are going for the IPMS Ireland show, in order to avail of these rates. You can book by phone on 01 4624200 or by email to:- reservations@plazahotel.ie

Unfortunately, 20 rooms were all that could be reserved, as the hotel has other group bookings already taken for the weekend of the show. If you want to book, I would do it quickly - there has already been some interest expressed to me by modellers who are coming over from the UK to the show.

I' ll have to volunteer to drink Filip' s share as well as my own then. Mind u it won't be brandy, it will have to be uisce beatha or rum.
Toothbrush glass not necessary as these drinks come in bottles. :dev:

Decided to be lazy this year and booked a room for the Saturday night. Got a single for €101 and change. If you book on line and are prepared to pay when you book you get a 15% discount. Although when you add in breakfast it comes out at only a euro or so cheaper than the €114 deal anyway.

Without want to ruffle any feathers or upsetting the plans at this late hour, is it not an idea to organise a dinner table for Saturday night for everyone staying at the hotel and any of the locals interested in socialising with the country brethren. How often do club members sit down and eat together? Maybe some of the traders travelling from afar would also like to be included?

Confirmation of another trader

This is to confirm that the Hobby Den, from Kildare town, will definitely be a trader at D5.

I was talking to Brian last Saturday, and he confirmed that he will join us again in 2016. (He will also have a table at the IMSS show in May)

Just wondering if there is table space to sit down and do some modelling at the nationals. I see this at shows and its always an attraction particulary for kids.

To answer the question seriously I don't think so. If we get the same number of models and I think we have more traders than last year plus the club tables it'll be a tight squeeze.

Leave it with me, Brian. (As they say...I have a cunning plan...., which I will raise with the Committee and see if it flies)
