Folks:-

Mushroom Model Publications, who will be one of our traders at D5 on 8th/9th October, have contacted us to let us know that, if anyone is interested in a specific book from their range (see http://www.mmpbooks.biz, they can arrange to bring a copy to the show - especially any of their older titles. The normal 10% IPMS discount will of course apply.

They will also be taking orders at the show, for free p&p on any books that they do not have with them, or which sell out.

Well worth a look, folks!

Slight change to the traders' line-up for the show. Unfortunately, Gideon Miniatures have had to drop out. However, McLoughlins of Newbridge were on a waiting list, and therefore we are able to accommodate them instead.

So the line up of traders will be as follows:-

Marks Models, Dublin and Cork
Dublin Model Shop (Walshie's)
The Hobby Den, Kildare
McLoughlins, Newbridge
Radu Brinzan Productions, Cork and Leixlip
Irish Transport Books and Kits, Dublin
The Modellers' Nook, Belfast
Edward White, Wexford
Mushroom Model Publications, UK and Poland

Unfortunately I won't be able to attend the model show because I have to fly to Poland on that day, but I do have 4 models prepared for it. Would it be okay if my son brought the models and displayed them for me? I sent a private message to Philip but didn't get a reply so thought I'd ask it here. Micheal M offered to help out with my models if it's needed, if you don't mind it of course.

They wouldn't happen to be 4 trucks by any chance?

Yes that's no problem. It will help if you download the entry form and fill it in

http://www.ipmsireland.com/Forms-Downloads/CompetitionRegistrationForm.pdf

Also the fee for each entry is €3 and models must be on the table by 1 pm on the Saturday and can't be removed before the prize giving on the Sunday. Looking forward to seeing them.

Unfortunately this once again clashes with my sons birthday weekend, so just no way I can sneak down.

Anyway good luck to all those displaying, and hope it goes off a treat. And can someone please take plenty of pictures

How about a relay build with members 'in action' working on a small or moderately sized kit over the weekend ? And / or were you thinking of kids building small kits on their own ?

Re: Kids make and take
I asked that question before and apparently the Irish law re: child protection demands everyone within a 5 km radius need Garda clearance to breathe the same air. Stoopid nonsense.

RE: realy build
Do you mean we all build 1 kit collectively or maybe a blitz groupbuild over the wekend based on a communal subject ?

Brian - it looks like we won't have the space to allocate a specific table for any such purpose - all the tables are spoken for, I'm afraid, in terms of a relay of members working on kits. Of course, if they were manning either of the two club tables (Dublin Chapter and Mid-West Branch), and if there was space there, it might be possible.

No possibility whatever of kids building kits - as you correctly noted, we did investigate the idea a couple of years back, and we cannot do it for "child protection" issues, Garda clearances etc...

Thanks Philip; that all the tabels are taken is a good sign. I guess I will just have to do my Mick Collins walking tour instead :-" .....

There's a way, if there's a will:
If you'll pay 'family membership', Mike, then, according to constitution of the Club, Sligo Twig will have to be considered as full Branch of the Club, as you'll have 3 members of the Branch, all of them members of the IPMS IRL. As such, you will have right to your very own table on the IPMS IRL Nationals ;)

Yes Filip that is one way, but then I'd have to attend AGM and do all that bureaucratic nonsense ;) I just thought it's about showing nice models, obviously it's not. I don't have a problem with that.

You do not have to do anything, Mick, all what you have to do is to fork out the membership fee :P

Gents. This discussion about how to establish a branch of the club (which of course is a function of the National Committee, not any individual) is not relevant to the present topic, which is about D5 and, as I mentioned above, all tables are now allocated. There is a section in the forum for club matters, which is open to club members.

Funnily enough, that is what the club is all about. Nice models, not so nice models and anything in between. The club is there for all genres and skill levels. Bring your models, we'll find somewhere to display them. But I hope you'll also understand if a full table can't be allocated to a "twig". Look at the list of traders we have to facilitate also. Look how cramped some of the competition entries were last year. So please, bring your models, lots of people will love to see them....but everyone please leave the attitude at the door ;)

Even though I am in the risk of 'snipping from the sideline', I do have to agree, with Sean that some competition entries were cramped on the tables last year, from the other hand, there were tables where handful of entries were enjoying the luxury of solitude as well as that grossly overstated presence of the flea-market. I think, that this was discussed last year straight after the 2015 Nationals, with conclusion of table re-arrangements for the 2016.

Another thing, as outsider, I do not think that presentation of any of the Club Branches with their display, no matter how small or big, is off topic debate. I think that one of the main aims of the Nationals is to promote Club and Club activities in all four corners of Ireland. /edit: BTW, lovely editing going on, Mr.Secretary, at least mark what has been edited, out of courtesy to the readers, otherwise this discussion makes no sense. Thank you, sir.../
Personally - and it's none of my business atm - I hope that there will be some space found for Michael to display a few of those amazing models of his and to see Sligo Twig in full parade.

No point in getting excited Gentlemen, as I've said before I'm not bothered. Travelling light appeals to me, less packing and less stuff too look after. So first time in my 4 years with Club no Sligo Twig Exhibition ;)

One of our booked traders - McLoughlins of Newbridge - has just informed me that they have to pull out of the show for personal reasons.

This may well give some space to provide a spare 8ft table which can be set aside to allow Brian to sit down and make models, and Michael to bring his Sligo models after all...

I will work on the layout and confirm, one way or the other, over the weekend.
