As a nugget (i.e. rookie) to the kit swop this year, is there a thread explaining how to take part in it?

Cheers,
Dermot

I will put up a post over the weekend, especially for those who have not done it before. It will be similar to last year, with two exceptions - (1) the tables will be located outside the function room, in the balcony area, (where the competition registration was last year), and (2) the club will take a 5% cut from the amount of the sales to each person.

As before, participation as a seller in the kitswop is limited to paid-up members of the club only.

One of our booked traders - McLoughlins of Newbridge - has just informed me that they have to pull out of the show for personal reasons.

This may well give some space to provide a spare 8ft table which can be set aside to allow Brian to sit down and make models, and Michael to bring his Sligo models after all...

I will work on the layout and confirm, one way or the other, over the weekend.

Philip dont go to any bother for me I just realsied I can't take knives and files onto the plane with me anyway !!!
But maybe somebody else would use the space constructively

That's great Barry - thanks!

(there will be others there too, so you won't need to be there all weekend... :D )

I have now posted up the details for selling at the kitswop in a new thread on the members' section of the forum. You will see that there was a similar thread there for D4, and the new one outlines all of the changes.

As mentioned earlier, participation as a seller at the kitswop is limited to paid-up club members, as it is a perk of membership. Anyone can, of course, buy.

Just a week to go, lads....

Time to finish the weathering / bases :bat: ....... and take out the surplus stuff from the stash for the kitswop.

In my dining room at the minute, the table is piled high with the judges marking sheets, the table markers for the classes, commendation certs, 1st/2nd/3rd/commended slips and the spare competition registration forms and copies of the rules - all for the competition. Then there is the kitswop registration list and the stickers for the kitswop. There are the armbands for the door entry and two cash boxes. In another box are all the medals. Yet to be done are the AGM agendas, the minutes of last year's AGM and the Committee report for the AGM. Also yet to be done - as there are still membership renewals coming in - will be the membership lists for checking those coming in the door (free entry to the show for paid-up members), and for selling in the kitswop. These will be done on Friday night, so as to be as up to date as possible. And the "free gifts" of packs of pipettes (which I personally sponsor) have yet to be packaged (these are for the first 50 who come in on the day).

Now, what have I forgotten??

Hey folks,

See all you up there, nomadicism and modelling don't quite go hand in hand, but at least I got one kit finished this year!

Again I promise myself not to bring home more than I sell at the kitswap!

Nope

Everyone else has their own jobs. Pat, for example, has to organise all the judges......Sean M will be running the door, Sean W will be labouring on the laptop all day on Saturday, and Gerry will be welcoming and taking care of our traders (and chairing the AGM). Alan has organised all the awards trophies, and will be collecting the money, paying the bills etc. Others will be running the kitswop, manning the club tables, etc. It's a team effort.

It's just that most of my jobs take place before the event, rather than during it....(gives me time to buy some stuff from the traders, sell some stuff in the kitswop and photograph all the lovely models on display ;) )

this time next week there will be grown men discussing seam lines, glue marks, paint finishes and markings all while the competitors wait with bated breath and nervous dispositions trying to interpret the body language and lip reading of the judges to see how well they did in the comp. cant wait. yipeeeeeee

Quick question, what's the earliest you can register for the competition at? Also, I might have a model for the Dublin Branch table, will there be room on it?

Jason, I will be there around 9.30 if you want to register earlier.
Can I ask is the AGM on Sat or Sun.
