Not especially stressed out at work/home or anything but cant seem to get going this year .Today took out all the gear and spent perhaps best part of an hour looking at bits and pieces of several projects and then put them all away without so much as a piece glued or painted .Admittedly I worked out that there was no point in fitting Schurzen plates on tank before painting tools eg shovel and I wasnt in mood for steady fine painting work -so I suppose that was a kind of 'planning' ....(I also glued a bit Id broken.Sometimes a project eg with biplane or ship rigging can seem one step forward two steps back!!! ) Got 1/48 Eduard Mig21 renovation project and after stripping have really only been tinkering with droptanks . Trio of 1/72 PSC Panzer IVs basically done but stowage and weathering could go on for ages (how long is a piece of string?!) 1/76 Airfix Morris Bofors gun tractor Christmas project basic shell built and sprayed 1/700 Tamiya Z Klasse destroyer half done ? I need to finish something .I never used have more than 1 or 2 at most on go simultaneously .I remember one of the IMSS lads (Ulster lad? called Terry?)saying that multiple builds nearly finished his modelling completely and I think he may be right ! Barry reports things quiet at his bench also . Site HAS been quiet but meetings in Dublin healthier than ever . I want projects to be as good as they can be so I go back over 'mistakes' yet I dont have any immediate plans to enter competitions . I generally make a point not go near a model unless Im in the mood .Forcing it is a chore and just leads to mistakes . Maybe I should break out one of the two Tamiya 1/48 Dingo armoured cars I got at Christmas !Or the Warhammer 'tank' I got yesterday ? Edited by fs2005, Feb 14 2016, 09:23 PM.

John Happened to me in the past. Best solution, IMHO, is to take out a new tool Airfix, or a Tamiya, and just build. (I'm sure you must have at least one in your stash!) Philip |

hi john it happens to us all. spent 3 hours at the bench today just doing touch ups and practicing some weathering on old kits before i commit to my just finished Hasegawa hurricane .i find that once i start spraying the kit it helps, its the small pieces and doing the cockpits that slow me down and stifle the mojo. BTW the 3 hours was from 6am to 9am as i dont sleep much which is when Jason once asked on the forum how i manage to build so many kits, i find that in the summer i put primer on 6/7 am ,first colour at 10/11am and second colour no camo around 2/3pm.then can Future and decal in evening or next day.getting to that stage is the hardest part as dont have much time midweek. |

I'm also finding it a bit of a struggle at the moment but am just trying to work through it doing mundane modelling work such as cleaning up seam lines on figures or tank wheels. I sometimes find it helpful to go through reference material or old magazines. I find Pinterest useful these days for reference or just looking at other modeller's works for inspiration

Haven't even looked at the bench since before Xmas but I'm in the process of doing up our new home and my man cave so I guess I'm too busy but I haven't got urge to do anything model related

Had same issue last year and what got me over it was just doing something completely different which for me was the bat mobile. A simple kit quick to build and a subject of a change, gave the mojo a good boost. As like Stephen says sometime doing your usual but the smaller fiddly bits that take hours or days can be disheartening as you never quite feel like progress is being mad. But John what ever you pick or do will be good just like everything else you post here. So what warhammer tank was it? |

A change is a s good as a rest. Build stuff you don't usually build and pick something with few parts. The chances are that you might actually finish it. We all need that gratification of seeing something done. Regards Brian |

I think most modelers get this from time to time. You just have to try and find that motivation again. |

Know that feeling well - hopefully move back in home in 11 weeks and get building again! Trying to stay motivated by following builds online here and elsewhere, reading hobby magazines and thinking of what to build next... Dermot |

First thing I did Monday .![]() Just messing around with a set of paints Id got last year for birthday and never got round to using .Called Gouache (like thick watercolours, but far more opaque/dark .The black was unreal!Blackest black ever! ) Copied pic from internet picture .Obviously its upside down LOL (Photobucket still misbehaving) (Colour scheme was used for a french cycling team in the 80s)Sharp dividing black lines just board marker. Good bit of modelling done today including the 'fine painting ' of tools on 1/72 Panzer IVs so hopefully 'on the mend '!:-) Edited by fs2005, Feb 16 2016, 05:19 PM.
