As It says in the title, this year's Modelling Munster model show and competition will be held during the last weekend in August. It is highly likely that this will be Saturday 27th.

Let's hope that the weather will be as good as we got used to during previous years and that the cold, wind and heavy rain of last year will not be repeated.
As usual, more details will be posted in due course.

That would be great, Mike, a few more extra ships wouldn't go amiss.

I will talk to Jane of AAC during next Mid-West Branch meeting, to see if they have put any thoughts into their Open Day. Once we'll know where we stand on this one, the precise date will be announced.

I'm gonna try to make this Filip, and might even enter a couple of builds. Is there somewhere with the rules/classes? How much to enter, what time entries have to be done by etc.? If we go to the show, do we also get to have a look at the aircraft in the museum as well?

All these questions, sorry! :)

That would be great, if you could, Jason.

I have to update the rules to reflect recent changes, but here they are.

Classes will stay the same as in previous years, I think, that the 'deadline' for entering models into competition is 12noon, but exact times will be confirmed. That's because of the judging system we have in place - modellers themselves do chose the winners in each class, so the later the entry the bigger chance of missing few point from the impatient 'early birds'.

As this event is taking place on the grounds of private museum, entrance fee must be paid - and competition entry fee on top.The same as during previous years.
Museum entry fee gives anyone right to enjoy the museum and browse through the exhibits and competition entry fee helps organisers - the Mid-West Branch - to pay for the running cost of the show itself.

The biggest change is, that we are raising entry fee. This year it will be 2 euro per model entered, but maximum of 10 euro per single contestant will be charged, so if somebody enters 5 or 7 or 12 models, it will be still tenner.

For example, I am entering 3 models, museum entry fee is 6 Euro, competition entry fee is €2 per model, that's 6... Over all I will be charged €12.

As I've mentioned above, more details will be coming closer to the date.

Hi Filip,

That's great, thanks for all those details, I appreciate it. Sounds like a good day, and good value too, I'll definitely try my best to be there.

Thanks...

...and, hopefully, it will be 'Planes, trains and automobiles' themed family day in Atlantic Airventure as well. So there should be some extra bits and bobs of mechanical nature scattered about on the tarmac, on top of the usual museum stuff. Most of that, unfortunately, depends on the weather on the day.

...and a bit more update about the, possible, exhibits and exhibitors:

- RBL Limerick Branch were invited and should confirm their presence at the show during the upcoming week

- I've met with members of Saoirse Maria MCC - organisers of Doolin Harley Fest and owners of Retroventures over the weekend and both parties have expressed their interest to be present on the day of the show. Details yet to be ironed, nonetheless it sounds promising.

Retroventures are agents for Royal Enfield motorcycles and Boys from Doolin should bring some lovely cruisers with them down to Shannon to be admired on the day. Weather pending...

...well, Brian :D

There's 4 tractors in that photo :-"

But, only 2, tractors, really... the other two are Jesse James' chop and American Ironhorse respectively and as for the tower...as bad as shamrocks, but better than that flat-hatted TD down in Killarney over the weekend. Talk about sticking out like sore thumb :zip:

Was wondering if your event was one day, as if it was not , it is a long trip from here and staying over is not an option.
