Got back yesterday and started back at mancave today I'm going to make some paint shelves to go over the bench as I'm always having to route around in the small drawers I have to store them in when looking for a colour so this should solve the problem. In all the supplies cost 22 euro for wood and screws not bad considering the price of some pre made one I've seen online plus this will hold tamiya /Mr colour jars and vallejo paints + spray cans so it will be worth it so far I've only this done but I'm off to work so I'll go back at it tonight when I'm home and try finish it

A rough idea of how much tamiya jars it will hold

Got the paint shelves finished this morning and it turned out well I happy with my bit of carpentry 😂 it measures 80cm x 80cm and for the tamiya /Mr colour jars I measured 2 inches between each shelf and for the vallejo paints I measured 3 1/2 inches between each one I put two extra tamiya size shelves down near the bottom for paints I'll be using while working on a model to save me stretching up to find them every time because I'm a lazy ba####d :D anyways it holds a lot of paints and tamiya can hold 2 paint jars deep and vallejo can hold 3 bottles Deep the wood i used I got in woodies it's just planed 19 mm x 71 mm and is 17.29 for 4 2.4meter lengths which I used all of thanks for looking

And with the all the paints I have on it just to get an idea of how much it can hold I think I'll go paint shopping soon 😁

Professional IKEA look to it

I would recommend some fabric strip in front of the jars to hold them in place as they will fall out every time you'll try to grab some tin out of the rack.

BTW: one can't beat topless Mini in Pink

Cheers philip. I know i only started using the tamiya last year when I got a airbrush until then I only used enamels which I'm gonna try and phase out altogether i tend to only buy the specific paints I need for the model I'm working on so the stash will build up slowly but I might go mad and get a load the next time I'm in a model shop I wanna try Mr colour paints also so a trip to hobby den is in order in the coming weeks

Nice progress on the Man-cave Des, the paint rack is very neat.
Can I make a suggestion of lifting the paint rack off the desk and fixing it directly to the wall, this way you can regain the the area of the desk that is taken up by the rack footprint.
I have mine sitting on the desk also and find that the bottom level of the rack gets obscured by stuff(WIP's/new kits/other stuff) on the bench.

Look forward to seeing the finished hideout.

Vincent.

Cheers vin. I only have it on the table temporarily just to get an idea of how it'll look I'm not even leaving it in that position I made it to hang on the wall on the right hand side of the table as to keep in front of me free space for modelling
