I'm quite happy to donate a few models for the club table if they needed, but sadly I won't be able to make it myself.
Pete - that would be welcome. Can you give them to Sean for transportation?

Philip
Sorry, looks like I won't be able to make it. Gutted!
Sean / Pete

If you can bring stuff along next Saturday to the Dublin Chapter meeting at 3.30, then I can bring them up for you.

Philip,

It not quite end of season yet and the boys have a semi final away this Saturday so sadly I won't be able to make it. Unfortunately I'm not home either until Friday night so no way I can get any models to Sean tomorrow either as only one if have with me that finished now is the alligator as the rest are WiP.

No worries re Saturday, Pete. If you are in work with Sean next week, I could meet up with him/yourself in the city centre perhaps lunchtime or 5.30 ish on Monday or Tuesday (6th/7th) in Marlborough Street to pick up?

I'll be in Belfast from Thursday evening, so if you need anyone to liaise with NIMA or otherwise help out/prepare the ground ahead of the show, let me know. And I've mentioned it before, but if anyone from Cork wants a model brought up for the table and/or a lift, hit me up

Regret that I will not be able to make it up to Belfast next weekend due domestic commitments, for those attending have a great time and if you have the time take a few pics.

Cheers

Excellent show up here in Belfast. Competition entries very competitive. Great vibe.
Thanks to all from the club who have come along, or contributed for the club table.

The main winner's where the usual suspects Roy kinsilla, Chris mc dowell, Keith donnelly and philip donnelly, Terry Burke from our club philip done a clean sweep on civil aircraft and also got a silver I think for his sub and pat mcgrath got a medal not sure what colour for his burnt out sherman and gerry doyle got a commendation for his Cuban mig also Roy got best of show And a guy called ken got peoples choice for his six foot model of the titanic which was unreal to look at amazing. that's all I can think off I'm sure there more names I've missed

and pat mcgrath got a medal not sure what colour for his burnt out sherman
No medal just a commendation

It was a great day and a well run show. I think they were pleasantly surprised by the turnout.
No retail therapy for me just loads of chat. Radu, Marks and The Modellers Nook were the only traders. There was no room for more. Ken Holland made the Titanic. Gregor from Tralee took a few medals for his ships.
I didn't bother taking photos - the tables were too packed.
While judging I was warned several times by people that my short sleeved shirt was catching on the wings or nose cones of planes as I bent down- next year I'm going topless. :D

Well done pat I wasn't sure what you got I thought it was a medal though and with the heat in the room yesterday I think we'll all be going topless 😁

Yeah, that sounds about right.

I was super lucky - brought along 8 kits to the competition, and got four medals. Yes, the silver was for the 1/35th Seehund....first and only time I've gone out of my comfort zone to do any kind of ship. That's the value of the forum group builds, I suppose!

And, while there were 40 military planes in the 1/48th and about 20 odd in the 1/72nd (including my Wildcat, which was well overshadowed by others), there were only four civil aircraft entered into that class in the competition - which, in the event, were all mine (!). Who would have thought it?? So the poor unfortunate judges (Alan Kelley and Jeremy Wilson) just had to choose between them...... I am delighted to say that they gave the gold to my 1/144th scale Ju 52 Lufthansa with 1936 Berlin Olympics decals. (The silver and bronze went to a Corsair racer and a Mustang racer, respectively)

The standard was really high in the competition - especially the 1/48th aircraft, the 1/35th armour and the (huge) Sci-fi classes. Some of the figures were good too, but we have seen most of them over the past couple of years, whereas there were more recent aircraft (including ones that Gerry Doyle and Alan Kelly just finished - both of which will be featured in mainstream modelling mags in the coming months)..

Roy Kinsella won best of show for his LE Roisin, for which he also got a gold at Telford.

There were only three traders - Radu Brinzan's RP Productions, Marks Models (with their new AK interactive paint/washes etc. range) and of course Chris Spalding's own shop, the Modeller's Nook.

Overall, a great show. I will certainly be going again next year.

For a small island, to have three top notch major modelling shows annually - the NIMA show, the IMSS and D6 - is pretty good, not to mention regional shows in Shannon and Cork.

Great time at the show. Standard was excellent, some very inspiring builds (if not enough sticky-stringy-wingy-thingys for my taste!) and the boys at NIMA did a fantastic job of dealing with a deluge of entries and a 5ft Titanic!
Nice to meet a bunch of you and put faces to names. Sadly I left my good camera in the hotel so all I've got are a few crappy cameraphone shots.

And with armour..

1/144 aircraft competition.. my Rumpler had a wee accident involving a lower wing popping off two days before the contest, so didn't make it in.
