I've built a spary booth using a big clear box from ikea and bathroom extractor fan and some flexible hose from a tumble dryer. I was wondering now what can I use for a filter to go in front of the fan and where can I get some plus is there a certain grade I need to get. I was thinking something like the paper filters that go in the extractor fans over cooker hobs but not sure if its any good also can't find any to try. anyone got any ideas thanks

Heil Mickey!
I've seen extractor fans done by using the full kitchen fan unit. The main reason for the filter is to prevent overspray - or paint dust, if you wish - entering the motor, sticking on blades and pipework behind the blades.
Kitchen filter will do just fine, unless you are trying to shoot some 1:1 replicas in your back garden.

I built one a while back and didn't find the bathroom fan up to the task to be honest...now two bathroom fans just might work

Here's a few pics of the spray booth as requested it's pretty basic and easy to make I haven't sprayed anything yet so don't know how it performs but hopefully it will do the job
The box cost 7 euro in ikea
The fan cost 22 euro in woodies
And I picked up a filter yesterday in woodies for 6.99 for a pack of 2
The hose I had already but I think there 17 euro in woodies so in all it would cost just over 50 euro which is a good price for a decent size spray booth plus I'm sure if you shopped around you could build one much cheaper

Nice one Des and nice work set-up too. :>

Is the fan plug-and-play or do you have to wire it in somehow?

Cheers,
Dermot

Cheers Dermot it needs to be wired and doesn't come with cable I had some left over so I used theat it's just a live and neutral connection so just wired the fan and the attached a plug and it's ready to go it will run constantly though so if you have a socket with a switch it's handy as it will save you having to unplugged every time plus to make the booth only took me 30 to 40 minutes

Gave the spray booth its first run today just spraying some small parts that's left to go on the gekko and It works well no strong smell of fumes when finished plus I didn't wear my mask and didn't get that feel/taste in my throat that I got before when I was using no mask or booth so all in all it does the job

Norton

Looks good.
Saw a clip on battery powered reading light recently somewhere that would go well with that.

would try if I had the space - but right now all my gear must be fold-able, stash-able.

Well done Des, looks great. Can I ask the shelves you have your paints on was that diy or store bought. Would save me having to root through box.

I built the shelves myself maurice I put up the build of them on here somewhere

There in the man cave topic on page 2 of general discussion thread I've put the measurements and what you need on it to build them they don't take long to put together
