After 15 years my modelling shed is finally making way for a larger shed... nicknamed the TARDIS my compact and bijou 6'x4' shed has become too cramped and unusable to the point I had moved back into the house. However mo bhean Álainn has had enough and so combining my birthday/christmas pressies (for the next decade) she has ordered me a new shed to be delivered this Saturday... It was quite traumatic dismantling the TARDIS practically plank by plank but it had to make way for a new base... Here is the TARDIS in her glory days ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

The TARDIS was perfect when I got it but in time I got a bigger airbrush compressor with a tank, an portable spray booth, extra airbrush, more finished models, more references, a ultrasonic cleaner and a hell of a lot bigger stash.... in truth I started building in the conservatory on the table just to have more layout space and eventually brought more tools/kits up from the shed only returning to spray... hopefully the move from 2.1m² to 5.4m² will solve the space issue. |

Finished models should be displayed at home, somewhere, where they can be admired by occupants and visitors alike... Bad enough that one is brushed outside to do some modelling Good luck with the new Tardis

Nice shed, looks alot more snug and nice insulated than the last one. Have to ask, in the last picture there is a family tree being shown. I am seeing what form here looks like a very familair bit a family heraldry, three raven on an inverted chevron. Are there Kirwan's in the family or am I mistaken ? |

The crest is my wife's. . . they are not ravens but look very similar, the Williams birds have leaves in their mouths

True, my own crest I got from my father but when I was researching my tree I found a variation but naturally went with the one my father had... even my wifes there is a different Williams crest with a winged sword (a la SAS) on a red field but the 3 bird version is specifically the English version. Heraldry is a bit of a mine field really, I went back further on some lines but managed to go back 4 generations on both families so that is the tree in the image... I added my daughters and their first cousins as the first generation going forward |

Well, Brian, it's somehow like that... Me, skeptic and a bit of heraldry nut in my teens, would say that majority of those family crests - especially those of the 'traditional Irish coats of arms' - are hoaxes. A bit like 'Irish Breakfast' or 'traditional family colours' of Scottish tartan. Invented for tourist and to add that bit of 'legitimacy' to the whole heritage. Of course there would some 16th-17th century crests, floating around Ireland, of the most prominent families, O'Niels, O'Connors - province of Ulster crest...anyone? - and some more, but those are based on English customs and heraldry and they were introduced to rise the status of those families to the English standards. They certainly got nothing to do with 'traditional Irish heraldry' as this, as such, never existed That's OT for some, for some uncomfortable truth Anyway, lovely shed and happy modelling inside that log house

Cheers Filip, I am happy to admit that the tree was done to give names, dates to my family tree... when I was drawing up the tree the crests were added as much for decoration as anything else. |
