I was using my airbrush last night and noticed the compresser getting very hot much more than usual also when it was refilling the it seemed to struggling to do so and after a half hour of spraying it gave up I left it off for a while and turned it back on and was working normally but the same thing happened again it's a hseng compresser which I bought last year and I have only sprayed one model with it and the one im working on at the moment plus it was in the attic for 7 months boxed up and unused I'm aware it's a cheap Chinese make compresser but I at least expected it to last a bit longer especially with the little use its had
Has anyone got any ideas where I can get a good make compresser online that won't be a copy of something I was looking at the iwata ones last night which are around the 300 euro mark which I don't mind paying once there genuine as I've read online about copies of these aswell which makes me skeptical about buying online I don't want to get another one of these cheap one even if there only 60 pounds just not worth it as the saying goes buy shite buy twice

Badger, Hansa, Sparmax - even Revell, which is Badger under different sticker are great. The Hobby Den in Kildare have - or should be able to get some for you, other than that, I am getting everything from our neighbors across the puddle: airbrushes.com

I have the basic Iwata Sprint Jet for many years, recently updated with Sparmax air tank and auto shut-off system. It's been abused all the time and still runs like clockwork, worth every single penny.

Cheers FiSe I was actually looking on their site last at the sparmax ones and iwata ones plus I'm looking for them with a tank I know marks models do the badger ones aswell for 150 so if there good and genuine I don't mind spending 2 or 300 on something thats gonna last as I'm still only new to airbrushing and not as clued in as some when it comes to these kind of thing so Cheers for the advice.
I was also looking to upgrade the airbrush I'm using but that's going to have to wait now or the missus will have me living out in the man cave and I'll be getting picture with no sound off her for a long time :D

Pictures with no sound ?!Ha , love it , we've all been there .Not sure about the struggling performance but my As186 DOES get very hot with anything other than short use .So hot I don't put it back in box for fear of melting rubber hose or even burning cardboard ,until it cools down a bit .Theres a water drain hole screw underneath might be worth draining ...a little rusty water might come out so have an old rag and/or tub to catch it .Might 'struggling'be cloggjng airbrush ?Anythibg other than very watery paint may be at risk of clogging .White has biggest pigment dust apparently .

I tried it again today still the same getting scalding hot John and only on a half hour. I did take the valve on the bottom out and rust colour water came out but made no difference to it surely the rust colour water means it corroded inside the tank would that not weaken the tank structure and possibly spring a leak or worse explode I'll keep using it for now in short sessions but I'm definitely buying a new compresser next week I don't trust this one anymore especially if Layla is spraying aswell Im not going to risk it I think like FiSe said I'm gonna go for a more expensive one and name brand as I'm sure there be some sort of warranty with them and youd know they be safe and quality control checked even my wife told me not to get a Chinese one and shes from China so that's coming from the horses mouth as they say :D

All compressers will get hot of course it is normal but I think the heat coming off mine is extreme I mean it could definitely burn through the cable if it was touching it but it's not really the heat I'm worried about its the fact that it actually stopped working even when left off for a while and then turned back on nothing only next day it worked again for half an hour then the same thing and it was never that hot when I first got it so I'm thinking it has to be something not right with it either way I'm going to get a new one the airbrushes I got with are fine no problems with those but at least the compresser taught me the lesson that you get what you pay for but I'm sure there are some of the same compressers that people have had for years and are still working fine but as with Chinese stuff it's hit and miss I've done business before with companies in China and have got stuff wholesale from there for years and it's pretty much the same some stuff would be excellent quality and in the same batch would be some duds I've had customers come back with after one day and some who are still using the same products till this day and working fine but I suppose it's the same with everything just poor quality control but can happen any product just look at Samsung at the moment they won't even allow you on a flight with the note 7 even if turned off

Every compressor gets hot after a while, as said already, but the heat should not be extreme. I assume, that they would have some sort of heat protection built in and hence the reason for the compressor not kickin' in until the following day.

The 'rusty water' is normal occurrence, squeezed from pressurized air and hot air getting in contact with cold metal tank. Draining the tank once in a while is normal procedure with any type of compressor fitted with air reservoir. This has nothing to do with how the machine is working, nor with pressure or motor. It just goes to show that it's good to have moisture trap fitted as well.

...and while at it, try to get braided hoses when getting the new toy. I had normal 'straight and curly' rubber hoses, but they tend to loose their integrity after some years and do crack.

If you are in a spending mood you might want to consider a BAMBi silent compressor

Or their oiless models.I am ordering either the BB8V or BB 15Vwhen I return from Telford to

Replace the old Aztec in my new bolt-hole, where space is a bit tight and noise is a factor.

I know of two people who run them and they sing their praises, solid, quiet and powerful enough .

They come at about £300/350 depending where you shop.

I believe that there is a video on a U-Tube modelling site.
