Hello all, looking for a bit of advice. While using airbrush to spray Tamiya gloss paint, I seem to be only getting a matt finish. I work outside in old shed but have a heater, is that a part of the problem.

I'd imagine moisture is the problem ..do you leave your model to dry there after you turn your heater off?

Must admit I do, but even spraying before drying it is matt

Heil Mickey!
Sorry, guys, just have to jump in - even though I said to myself that it's none my business.

Firstly:
- did you steer that paint properly?

Secondly:
- are you sure that the paint finish supposed to be Gloss?

If both of the answers are 'Yes', then:
- make sure that both paint and the painted surface are not freezing cold, just leave them in the heated room for a few hours
- make sure you are avoiding 'dry-spraying' or 'dusting' after the main coat is on. Nice and even wet coat or two over some dusted base should do the trick for lovely Gloss finish.
- leave the heating on for another while after painting to help with drying and spread of the paint coat

Thanks Fise, I think maybe cold is the problem, I moved out to my sons old shed he used to paint in, but it does need a lot of heat, so I think you are probably right, sometimes when i spray it does appear to be dry. I think from now on I will use matt and then gloss it. By the way you were not jumping in. I appreciate your imput, thanking you.
