When Wingnuts decided to make an "obvious" kit, they didn't half go to town..

Camels!

Six (!) boxings of the Camel which by my calculations means about 9,511 different schemes. The Clerget and USAS schemes are my favourites. Airfix may well rue not getting a 1/24 Camel on the market first because this is the state of the flipping art. I hope they sell bucketloads so that they can finally release a 1/32 Taube (and while I'm dreaming, I'd also like a pony)

Sopwiths are grand, but just grand, they won't make my heart race. 1:32 - used to be called American scale, because no one else had/have the room to stock pile those bricks... :-"

But 1:48 Taube should be, hopefully, out in resin, price tag around 120 give or take, it's a massive aircraft in that scale, so 1:32 would be ready to use as means of daily commute. I am still waiting for re-issue of Hansa W.29 in 1:48 :ermm:

Yeah, I know what you mean about the Camels.. there's many others in their range that I'd buy first.
Still, it's great to see such an iconic plane getting the WnW treatment consideing that all you really had in 1/32 was the highly inaccurate Academy (hello, upside-down MGs!) and Hobbycraft kits and, of course, the ancient 1/28 from Revell (which I have a sneaky soft-spot for).

Academy was the Hobbycraft one, I think.

Did Hasegawa had/has their big and expensive museum 1:16 scale line of aircraft too? I think, it was SE5a, Camel, not sure of any others, but I remember these two.

BTW, Camel talking, it's frustrating that nothing is known about Robert Gregory's last mount - and his previous ones too, for that matter :book:

Why did I not buy a few of these when exchange rate /price meant they could be 'landed' in Ireland for around €50?!

Yeah, I think the Hobbycraft was the Academy with a couple of re-tooled parts. And there's a school of thought that thinks that the Academy (which has been reboxed by many companies) is scaled down from the Revell 1/28.
Finding out about Bobby Gregory's career is worthy of an historical research project... I am contemplating doing my MA in History... hmmm..

Ask and ye shall receive... I emailed Wingnuts a few years ago asking if they were planning a Taube... they said no, but have clearly changed their minds since, per the Nuremburg show/SAMI. I'm taking all the credit.

Time to start saving the pennies

44.4cm wingspan in 1/32 if i do my sums right? Big old bird, hey?

And it's the Jeannin Stahltaube, apparently which means I'd also better get to training some spiders for all that rigging..
