I'll be attempting this for the group build:
Posted Image

Some background as follows:
"In 1944, Hitler put a stop to all development of superheavy tanks and the project went on to a very low priority..."
Encyclopedia of German Tanks of World War Two, p.149 (Chamberlain and Doyle)

In my alternate history, development continued without the Fuhrer sticking his oar in, and coupled with the stunning success of Einsatz Feuerwasser*; this monster arrived on the battlefield in late 1945, albeit in limited quantity.

*An operation devised by German intelligence services in which huge stocks of alcoholic beverages laced with psychotropic substances were 'left behind' by the retreating Wehrmacht. These would then be 'appropriated' and consumed by the advancing allied armies. The subsequent ill-effects would render the US/British forces incapable of useful combat and buy desperately needed time for Germany. An ancestor of ace Republic of Ireland striker, Frank Stapleton, serving with the United States 3rd army (and possibly suffering from those ill-effects) on encountering the E-100, described it as: "the yoke with the big turret head on it...inanyway". :-"

Hi John,
From what I understand, the E-100 (Adler) was ordered by the Waffenamt in parallel with the Maus (Porsche). :adolf: probably thought you could never have enough superheavies...

I think that this was common practice, even Tiger was a development program with a few prototypes, from which the one famous heavy tank came out - and Elefant/Ferdinand, as well as 'Sturer Emil'

Pity that British Army boys were a bit torch-happy in the 50's-60's

Small bit of progress, I've managed to do a mock-up. I hope to do a fair bit tomorrow (fingers crossed). Looks a bit scrawny without the side skirts...

Hi Pat,
The hull length is about 12cm, overall length (to barrel end) will be a touch over 15cm.

Regards,

Robert

Hi John,
The red is just a primer coat. They''ll get a more usual dark yellow top coat. This monster also had steel rimmed wheels according to the couple of hull photos I have.
I'll keep it going... :zip:
