Should a model being entered into the competition have a base?

Technically no but there are marks for presentation and a base helps the judges move the model around to judge it

I remember being told that marks are taken off if you don't have a base, but I might be wrong. The best advice is to bring a base (even a plain wooden one), rather than not have one.

Philip

(Mick - are you still planning to drop up to my house on Friday to give me your entries to put in on the Saturday, or are you going yourself?)

it's not that marks are taken away, it's that extra marks are available if you have a base- or is that the same thing  :D

Anyway your model will be judged with or without a base

Very enjoyable first day at the IMSS show. Spent most of the day chatting about models. For various reasons I had nothing in the competition but there was some lovely stuff on the tables which were slightly barer than last year. 1/48 scale aircraft still the biggest class. I did a little bit of judging which wAs enjoyable. I'll go back for the fin roundup tomorrow

And if the rest of the punters bought the same amount of kits as the IPMS members then I'd say the traders were happy

Yes Pat - many of us added to our stashes yesterday :-" .

Competition standard very high indeed, though the number of non-aircraft entries was surprisingly small. Many of the aircraft entries were by IPMS Ireland or NIMA folks.

Will return this afternoon for the raffle and to see which entries got the prizes.
