Took a spin up to the museum today and well worth the spin it was...
Met at the door my the owner and practically given a guided tour through the place...
A new extension is about two weeks from completion so some things were not open to closer inspection but clearly visible..in there I saw a couple of Willis jeeps ,American and German half tracks and a zundapp.
The display of weapons is second to none and equally or if not better than a lot of the d-day museums in France. If the weapons are there to be picked up you can pick them up..no problem at all
After a good chat with the owner he said to us if you have 5 mins come with me and I'll show you a couple more things...so today I held in my own two hands ,waived around and made all the fakes noise of the following
Tommie gun,
2 mausers,
A Luger,
Mg34
Mg42
Stg44
M1 garand
Lee Enfield
Fn
Colt 1911
Vickers
And a bloody heavy m60

Definitely going back when the extension is open and it has a playground on the premises too

A great afternoon all in all

Yeah it's great there , a hidden treasure !Will def make a third visit to see extension .Lots if the stuff you described was in view before so I guess it's been moved into extension .German halftrack is cool as is Greyhound/M20 ,Weasel us amphibious AFV , PAK , Russian 45m , 120mm mortar etc etc etc
The staff are highly knowledgeable and helpful .
Who would have thought a Tommy gun was same price as a Model T Ford and(practically ?) got first outing in Ireland

Few pics here

Oh and don't get yourself in situation I did by trying to take a boreen /lane down directly to the motorway ( was heading up to Newry) You can SEE the motorway behind a 'wall' but you will have to creep along a pitiful potholed track at walking pace for what seems like forever to reach it .Use map/satnav etc not your nose !

I'm sure it would be well worth a group trip when the extension is opened..would be good to support it seeing as it's a private enterprise
