I think you'll have guessed what the proposal is lads..we tend to build a lot of ww1/ww2 and more modern stuff but not a lot from this infamous war..s9 basically anything goes here..figures,dioramas,planes,helos, tanksand hell even patrol boats!
Just remember all those iconic films for inspiration!

Question- does this cover the French/Indo China war or strictly from the American Involvement in Vietnam

Fascinating period- essentially the US stepped in to replace the French after they pulled out. The French overthrew the Vietnamese Popular Government to retake control after WW2 and were supported by the US and others. After a bitter war, in which the French used mainly colonial troops and the French Foreign Legion instead of French born troops, the Viet Minh defeated the French Forces at Dien Bien Phu (a battle later refought by the US at the same place but renamed Khe Sanh) the French pulled out and were eventually replaced by the US who went on to make all the same mistakes the French had.

There's probably enough Scope in the US/Vietnam war for the group build without including this but there might be some interesting Plane and armour variants used by the French

Pat, I believe that the French handed over a lot of surplus equipment over to the South Vietnamese Army. Maybe an Ex- French ARVN M-24 Chaffee, perhaps?

There is a good book about the Battle of Dien Bien Phu, called the "The Last Valley". It has some good background information about the whole war, and some good photos of kit that was used the French. They used everything they could get their hands on.

Pat (of course) referred to a tank. How about French planes used in Vietnam around the time of Dien Bien Phu? (I think I have a French variant of the Ju 52 - the Toucan - in my stash).

I didn't refer to Tanks at all I'm sure the French had some planes in the air and there were also a lot of US planes donated/loaned and in some cases flown by U.S. Pilots, Corsairs etc
