Grand evening for it ! Haven't done it in 35 years or so but pure fun .

Funny I can remember building a Matchbox B17 and being astonished at how the silver enamel would dry almost as soon as applied that day .Another day I did a Matchbox /AMT 1/24 Corvette with firebird on bonnet but painted it( gloss emulsion! ) black rather than white as that was the colour of the one in Smokey and the Bandit .

Usual glacial progress , in an hour or two managed to :

Did some refining of superglue and baking soda filling and sanding around top rim of wooden 'sea base' for 1/700 Z Klasse destroyer

Painted two layers of dark blue on same

Did a bit of polishing out dust paint imperfections on my long running 1/48 Eduard Mig21bis restoration

Fitted a knocked off etch wing fence ( WAS SO IMPRESSED WITH LOCTITE GEL CONTROL SUPERGLUE -in bottle-as recommended by someone recently ) pulled off the other fence ( as it had paint tide mark on it ) and reapplied it !

Might do a bit more tommorow ! Tantalisingly close to finishing 5-10 ongoing projects almost all at once

Oh and visibility is great outdoors for spotting finish imperfections

Done it a few times but whatever about finding small pieces on the floor in the house, forget about it in the garden :(

Masked 'front canopy' of 1/72 Heller Bf109B

Masked front and rear canopies of 1/144 Eurofighter Typhoon

ALSO Painted ejection seat and a cockpit rear shelf

No , just squatting , adding progress here as can't be doing with 8 build threads .Today stuck gun and exhaust on polish armoured car and if I hadn't damaged turret paint in process could have called it finished .Still another session should see it sorted .Similarly my SIG33B was almost done when I realised the wire I'd made a tow rope from wouldn't sit right on tank for love nor money .May not bother despite making nice little oval loops on and disguising wire end with a blob of superglue .

Fair play John- little and often is the way to go, I'm in a bit of a slump which I'm hoping to drag myself out of over the weekend with a quick and dirty build of a 1/72 Aoshima Seiran

There's only 15 or so parts so I should be ok ;)

I see it cost 100 Yen or about 80 cents when new !I just look at it and see canopy masking!(at least Stuka or Me110 bad!)

Did a bit late last night on painting sea base , you can make one for this as well as the container ship!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tc_6kej9cLI

Actually watched and followed technique 'live' from about 4min40 secs for five minutes or so (with pausing) (keep paint well thinned )

I think Im using a hybrid of about three different modellers techniques .

Theres a clearly irish sounding lad called Shane Smyth who has a good Youtube channel with one woirth watching also .Is he IMSS or maybe based overseas?

That Mod Podge seems to be glorified half diluted PVA glue as far as I can tell. There seems to be a pile of products in the same category !(Elmers /Gator/Plastic Products 'Card Glue' etc etc )

Shane Smyth lives in Galway, is not a member of any club, nor has he been to any model show in Ireland and has 6,155 followers on his YouTube modelling channel. His videos are great very simple to follow and great results.

Duplicates , deleted one .There really are quite a few 'schools' in sea basing .I like the water colour paper but coating it with superglue is a pain .The cocktail sticks underneath it for waves is effective .....Beyond that you can use so many different products , cotton wool , torn tissue paper ,DAS clay ,texture paste , silicone sealant etc etc .
There was a very good 1/35 waterfall dio at last Adhesion meeting which looked almost custom made for the figure set of the US and German paratroopers peeping at bathing Italian girls .He used mostly silicone sealant I think ( on aeroboard shell)
I did an overnight test with two of a set of 4 or 5 Lidl acrylic modelling pastes I got from their bargain bin for €3.50 and one dries clear and the other white so I reckon I'm all set for next stage.( Megabucks bespoke water simulation products don't appeal ,mind you some of those underwater dios with poured resin are amazing-a lot harder to produce than they look - heat issues etc (?) )
