Hi Guys,

This is my choice for the GB.

Looks a nice little kit, not too many parts so hopefully goes together well.

Just have a query on the paints (see below)

The paints they recommend are Mr. Color, I have never used them, has anyone any experience of airbrushing with them.
Usually use Revel or Tamiya. Also they don't give a separate colour for the cowling, I have checked on a previous zero model and that states
Mr. Color 125 "cowling colour ", but cant find it anywhere on Mr. Color or its equivalent in any comparison charts.
If not I can just mix till I get a colour am happy with.

Hi Maurice

There are two Mr Color paints - Mr Color (which is an enamel/laquer type) and a Mr Colour Aequous (which is an acyrlic, like Tamiya). I have no experience of the former, but have used the latter, in my airbrush, without any issues. You can get the full range of the latter from the Hobby Den in Kildare town, when they are in stock. If the particular colours you are looking for are out of stock, give Brian a call, as he will be happy to order them in for you.

Philip.

Finally made a start on this kit.
First time I built any kit from this manufacturer, Fujimi.
Very basic cockpit (as you can see from photos below) but with closed canopy you wouldn't see much anyway, however the kit really goes together well and needs very little fillers and sanding.

Mr Hobby paints are the bees knees, as others have said Hobby Den have good stock, I use Mr Hobby Levelling Thinner with them, great

As you can see, all ready for decals, bit of weathering and the small bits (aerials etc) oh yea and some touch ups.

Shows the launch rail, seem to have misplaced the sub.

Hi Maurice,
Its coming together very well and looks really interesting.
A question, exactly which model of Japanese aircraft is it as I cannot see the designation of it any where in the post or on the box?
Reason I ask is that there is a photo of a Japanese Nakajima E8N float plane(code name 'Dave') on page 24 of July's aeroplane monthly. The reason its interesting is that its on the German Auxiliary Cruiser 'Orion' and its in spurious English markings!
Cheers

Hi Joe
Designated Navy Type 0 Small Reconnaissance Seaplane Model 1-1 (later redesignated Model 11), and known to the Allies by the code name “Glen,” the E14Y entered service in 1941. It is the only Japanese aircraft to bomb the United States during the conflict.
Hope this answers your question.
