Hi guys,

Inspired by Peter's 1/35th build of the JGSDF Light Armored vehicle (LAV), I'm going to dig my 1/48th example out of the stash (in order to yet further reduce its size) and do an OOB build, with a unique and eye catching 'Winter Camo', as seen on other JGSDF armoured vehicles.

I'll follow up with some reference and in progress pics asap, and it's available to see publicly as a facebook album on my timeline.

Cheers
Glen

On the bench:
1/35 AML-30 prototype
1/35 Djibouti BTR-60 with AML-90 turret
1/72 S-Models BMD w/scratch slat armour.
And about 100 other part built kits... ;)

See I get blamed for everything at home and now on here just typical lol

Ah well I’ll take it as a compliment in my build rather than just the really nice kits by Tamiya:)

Looking forward to watching this Glen alongside build my own. Be interesting to see the kit difference, but I’m intrigued by the choice of camo scheme never thought of that myself and option wasn’t given in 1/35.

Progress after 1 hour and fifty minutes, only, magnificent engineering by Tamiya I must say. All that's left to do is paint really...

Definitely take it as a compliment mate, you won't get many :D

This camo is not an option with mine either Peter, but hey, a lot of exercises (internationally) get very little photo coverage, everyone is so busy. A whole lot of camo and weathering occurs we'll probably never see :>

This is as far as we're at after about a half an hour in the mancave prepping the kit. Quick rub down of alcohol, and primer coat of Mr Surfacer 1200, from the rattle can :>
Bought a ton of this Spar stuff while in Spain...

Good work Glen. Interesting camo. How are you going to tackle that?

Cheers Pat.
It looks like a repeating pattern, i.e. a template, repeating over the whole vehicle. Will knock something up similar, in scaled down form, and might even try to include the plentiful overspray evident on the 1/1 AFVs...
