So this will be my build in tribute to Don.

This relic of a kit from way, way down in the stash....

With a bit of TLC and some new decals to end up with this Fire Bomber.

The plane featured in the 1989 film 'Always' which was a loose remake of a 1943 film called A Guy Named Joe.

The Douglas A-26 Invader was a late WW2 light bomber/ground attack and also served in Korea, Vietnam and other conflicts - you can read more about its history here. When replaced or sold off, a number of these were converted to fight forest fires in America, bombing them with water and fire repellent.

The plane from the movie is still around and is in flying condition - you can read more about its life here. For the film, these were leased from Lynch Air Tankers of Montana and this is the obituary of the owner and founder, John Dennis 'Denny' Lynch - definitely has Irish connections with that name.

So there you go....lots of Airfix rivet sanding ahead,

Thanks for looking and good luck with your builds.

Great choice Dermot,
A great use for an old Airfix kit. Really looking forward to seeing this develop.
I even liked the film 'Always' with Richard Dreyfuss.
So its a win win for me.
