Hi Guys,
I cannot resist these little beauties, You get two complete kits plus etch and a resin engine. Also you get a choice of four different aircraft to build with appropriate decals. SO I couldn't make up my mind which aircraft I was going to build so I have decided to go the whole hog and build two at the same time.

Posted ImageIMG_20171016_172205 by Joseph Moran, on Flickr
And the decal choice;

Nice kits

So decided on the Russian one with the Death Heads, flown by A.G. Mikhailov and the French version flown by Paul Tarascon Of Esc. N62. I have always wanted to do one from this Esc because of their Crowing Cock Motif.
Tarascon joined the French military in 1901; upon his release from active duty, he was assigned to the 4e Regiment d'Infanterie Coloniale. He became interested in aviation after his release, and decided to learn to fly. In 1911, while learning to fly, he crashed so badly that his right foot had to be amputated. This would spark his later nickname: l'as la jambe de bois (the ace with the wooden leg). Despite the handicap of an amputated foot, he was credited with twelve confirmed and ten probable victories in aerial combat. He also served in World War II.
On the bench in order of nearest to completion;
A Model 1/72 Spad A.2 Finished 24/4/18
A Z Models 1/72 Morane "WR". (Schneider race entry from 1914).
K P Models 1/72 Avia BH-3
Mark 1 Models 1/144 Gloster Gladiator
SRAM Models 1/144 SIA 7-B (Resin)
Valom Models 1144 A pair of Sopwith Pups
MSD Models 1/72 Vickers Vimy 66 Commercial
Glencoe Models 1/81 Curtiss Condor
Revell 1/72 Fokker D.VII conversion to a two seater
Curtiss Condor (added 24/4/18) 1/81
Ansaldo S.V.A 9 (added 24/4/18)

Some progress to report on these little Nieuport 11's. Fuselage together, all tail feathers in place. Seats with belts ready to be dropped in.
Next a belt with some white base paint and then French WW1 yellow for one and the Russian Bebe will get a blast of a WW1 German blue grey.
Cheers

As I was away for Christmas and the New year I'm only getting back to modelling now. So here's the first up date on the two Nieuport 11's,/
The Russian one has had the fuselage and upper wing painted and futured for decals.
Here's where we are now. A lot more decals for this one and then it will be time to attach the upper wing.

Posted ImageIMG_20180112_153556 by Joseph Moran, on Flickr

Likewise the French one has had the fuselage and upper wing painted and futured for decals.
Here's where we are now. Not as many decals to add but I am looking forward to adding the Crowing Cock of Escadrille N62. Then it will be time to attach the upper wing.

On the bench in order of nearest to completion;
A Model 1/72 Spad A.2 Finished 24/4/18

Got another little bit done today, mainly adding decals.
A.G. Mikhailov from the 22nd LAO. 3rd BAG Western front 1917 certainly wanted everyone out there to know that he was Russian with decals almost every where!

I have always wanted to portray an aircraft from Esc. N62 with their Crowing Cock motif. When they changed over to Spad's it simply became Spa62.

Big jump forward with both Nieuport 11’s.

As with the tiny etch with these kits one of the struts for the Russian aircraft went b’ding and disappeared never to be found again. So I used 0.2 mm rod to replace both struts on this one. The V-strut didn’t really pose a problem.

So the propellers are ready just like the Hanriots, I need to rig both of them with 0.071mm wire.

They look spindly and fragile just like the real thing.

Moving forward with this Nieuport 11 as well as the Hanriot. Rigging in the process of being done. This one is proving difficult to handle. Normally I use the sides at times or between the nose and tail. Cannot use the sides as the control rigging for the tail comes out high up the fuselage. Had both sides done last night but forgot about the sides and picked it up. Have replaced one, now have to replace the other three! Some words were spoken where I questioned by linage ##""%%%^^~~## :zip: :zip: .

So the Russian aircraft will be completed before the French version. here's the state of play at the moment.

Beautiful build.

I don't know how you manage the rigging without going nuts. This is why I'm considering shifting my stick and string activities to at least 1:48 (I have a DH4 (to see the light of day as a DH 16) an SE5a a Neuport 11 and an Albatros DIII in this scale in my stash)
