Kuat Systems Engineering RZ-1 A-wing; Bandai 1/72

I got to a point with my other build, where I can move it to one side, and start on this: Bandai's 1/72 A-Wing.

The A-wing shouldn't really need an introduction

Here are some of the sprues of the kit. Assembly is fairly quick, but you have to pay careful attention to the instructions.

It is definitely looking the part already.

This is an attempt at pre-shading, I haven't really done it before. The stand is one from the X-wing kit.

I used Mr.Hobby Light gull grey for the "white" parts, and a mix of Tamiya Hull red and NATO brown for the "red" parts.

There seems to be some unwanted odd features showing though the paint, which was a result of the pre-shading. I ended up sanding them with an extra fine sanding stick.

I added the laser cannons to the A-wing.

I also started to paint the pilot, the figure reminds me of the old Airfix blobs.

The engine cluster looks nice.

Since my previous post, I have gloss coated the model, painted up the pilot, placed the canopy, and applied decals.

I also gave it a wash with some old Citadel Badab Black wash.

Looks really well, makes me want to break out my ARC 170 at the weekend or possibly break ground on the dropship, (seeing as how the DEP is a whisker away from finished) hmmm.
