Right ho gentlemen (and ladies?) Let's get this show on the road ( so to speak) I will probably lapse into General melchett persona for most of this group build so don't worry about that.

My first build will be that mainstay of the RAF during the interest period the Hawker fury, specifically an airfix 1:48 one.

If all goes well I'll also build at least either a gamecock, a salamander or a snipe, I'd love to build a snark if only for the name but I'm having trouble finding plans. Otherwise I'll at least clear out a few denizons of my stash. That typhoon is looking likely.

So best fighting trousers on and let's discuss the builds, there are many many interesting possibilities out there so let's not have too many spitfires, eurofughters (and furies :) ) then.

Hi Mark,
Another GB that falls well into my sphere of interest!
Just a couple of WW1 and inter war kits to muse over. Pup, Camel, SE5a, F2B, 0/400, DH4, DH9a,RE8, Avro 504, Snipe, Salmander, Spad XIII, Vimy, all used by the RAF.
Inter war. Gladiator, Tutor, Wallace, Seafox, Firefly, Rippon, Gamecock, Bulldog, Fury, Osprey, Gauntlet, Audax, Hart, Hind, Nimrod, Flycatcher, Grebe, Woodcock, Siskin, Moth, Swordfish, Walrus, Stranraer, Comet, Shark, Vernon, Anson, Hector, Magister, & Heyford and I know that I’m only scratching the surface of the interwar types.
Looking forward to this Big Time!
Cheers

OMG (an expression which dates back to wwi btw) literally spoiled for choice. Britmodellor did a centenary group build, but oddly very little grabbed me, far too many Camels, spits and mosquitos. Your list points to the huge variety and large number of extremely quirky types that served the RAF.

Let's see I have a DH4, DH4a, SE5a, F2B, Mustang, P40, Typhoon, swordfish, gladiator and the Fury in my stash, will probably complete the DH4, the Typhoon the swordfish and the Fury as RAF the rest I have other plans for.

Yes Sir, Mister Wing Commander Sir!

I have a couple of less obvious RAF types in my stash (courtesy of a recent big kit purchase - thanks Shaun!)

These are:

You can see what Scalemates says about them here:-

Looks like they are all fairly short-run type kits, and will require modelling, rather than kit assembly. Should be fun! :-"

Hmm maybe it should be Lord Flashard not Melchett :)

Anyhoo on to business.

Phillip, wonderful selection, I shall sift through my sources and try to come up with something equally obscure ( I like a challenge :) )

Jason not to worry, something might cross your path over the next 9 months.

Nice choice of unusual subjects there Philip and would be great for the Group Build.

A Bombay and a Brigand. Nice pair of Bristols as Lord Flashard might say :D

Just doing a little research myself Wikipedia has a great List of historic types flown by the RAF (which includes a very good list of captured types as well) and also list of current RAF types, add in the RAF armoured cars and there really is a bewildering amount of choice for this one.

I went and ordered two of these off ebay yesterday (yes another pair of Bristols I'm afraid) Not sure how good a kit, but they were cheap (less than €20 including delivery) My (cunning ?) plan is that one will be (strangely enough) completed as a Bulldog and the other will be a donor for the Gamecock (engine; they both use the Jupiter VI, wheels: a pain to scratchbuild, Decals and whatever else can be used).

That gives me a Fury, a Bulldog and a Gamecock all in 1/48 for the build and hits most of the more significant RAF interwar fighters.
