Can I suggest that the next Dublin meeting be held on the 25th so anyone coming up can also visit the IMSS show? Perhaps if some of our Cork & Limerick branch members are up for IMSS they can also drop in and say "Hi".

From the IMSS site:
Doors Open to the Public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days.

Competition entries must be on tables by 1 p.m. on Saturday the 12th.
(I presume they mean 25th!)

So we could have our meeting from 10-12 and give anyone entering time to do so. It's a 15min walk from the Exchange to Collins.

Just a thought....

I am open to the idea, if people want to do this. Unfortunately, the previous Saturday is not free at the Exchange, so the alternative is a get-together from 12 noon on that previous Saturday in the Porterhouse.

Don't forget that the IMSS show is in Collins Barracks, which is a good walk away from the Exchange.

Another alternative would be simply to come along to the IMSS show, where - as you can see from my other post - a table for us has been arranged and just have an informal meet there.....

Can folks let me know what they want to do?

Thanks,

Philip

I would probably skip the meeting on the 25th and head straight to Collins Barracks, someone should be there at opening time to take over the table and it would be easier for me to just hop on the Luas than walking all over town. I've only got a single model to put on the table though so backup would be appreciated. :P

Honestly an informal get together on the 18th at the Porterhouse would work better for me all things considered but I don't mind which way it'll go down.

I'd prefer to stick to the Exchange so the 25th suits me- not a big fan of meetings in Porter House.

Collins is only 20 minutes walk from Exchange though if anyone is driving up from Limerick or Cork they'd have to park in Collins then get to exchange and then get back to Collins so maybe a meeting in Collins is better and if it's a sunny day we can sit on the square.

As an aside- being one of the most regular groups in Exchange though it should be possible to block book ahead for the 3rd Saturday of every month.

I, personally, wouldn't be worried too much about us, country rednecks :P
We haven't been talking properly about the upcoming IMSS show and our plans as yet. We have meeting on the 4th of May and we'll see then.
The most probable case is that somebody will drop competition models to the venue on Saturday and we, probably, will organize mass trip of our branch to Dublin on Sunday. But if, how, who and when I can't tell at the moment.

So, just checking, what is the plan regarding the next meeting? Is it on in the Porterhouse on the 18th? Or on the 25th, either before, or at, the IMSS?

Thanks...

Jason / folks,

I think that the best option, since the Exchange is unfortunately not available on the usual third Saturday (18th) - due to an all areas Art thingy that uses the entire space - is to
get together at the Porterhouse at 12.30 or so on Saturday 18th for an informal get together (sorry - Pat!), and

ALSO to meet up in Collins Barracks at the IMSS show on Saturday 25th, at perhaps 1.30 pm...I really see little point meeting at the Exchange only to go on to the stand at the
IMSS.....most folks will want to go direct anyhow (as Sean has indicated).

That means that those who wish to enter into the IMSS competition will have done their business beforehand, and we can meet up and decide to go either to the Collins
Barracks cafe (which I note that those in the know say is expensive), or perhaps to other options in the area. Meanwhile those who want to go for a natter and have a coffee and a
small bucket of chips in the Porterhouse on the 18th (or something stronger or more filling, as they wish....) can opt for that idea instead of, or in addition to, the IMSS option...

So - we meet up on the 18th at 12.30 in the Porterhouse, and we also meet up at the IPMS Ireland stand at the IMSS show at Collins Barracks at whatever time suits folks
on Saturday 25th, and in any event meet up to go for lunch on the 25th at about (say) 1.30 pm....

If you want to enter models in the IMSS competition, and can only make it on the Saturday, then I am sure that there will be volunteers willing and able to pick up your
medals/prizes on the Sunday afternoon....It looks likely that our colleagues from the Mid-West will be travelling down that day.......

Don't think I'll make the IMSS show although I'm going to do my damnedest to get there

It's halfway up Parliament Street - the street that runs from Capel St Bridge up to City Hall. We usually try to get the picture window on the corner on the first floor.

Have a look at this link.

Hope to see you there!

I hope to be there on Saturday in the Porter House, not sure about bringing anything along, will have to see
what I can get finished before then.

I will not be able to make the IMMS on the 25th as my daughter is making her communion on the Saturday,
but I may be able to get up on the Sunday for a while.

Sean,
If I thought for one solitary moment that there was even the remotest possibility of a snowballs chance in hell
that I could get away with that, I would do it!!!! :-" :dev: Reality check=No chance :bat:

If you want to enter anything in the IMSS competition, I'd be happy to log it in for you first thing on the 25th.

You could bring it/them along to the Porterhouse next Saturday, or else drop it up to me in Naas some evening in the week before (20th - 24th), if you haven't it/them finished by next Saturday. In addition, i'm happy to take anything you want displayed on the club table at the IMSS - you could then come in on the Sunday 26th to collect your prize(s) and/or bring back your kits.

Cheers,

Philip
