For this Saturday should we only be bringing models we wish to enter in the competition?

Graham
No worries, Graham - anything you like, as always. It's just an offer to those who want to get an objective view from a colleague on any models that they want to enter. (I know I have some that won't be finished by Saturday - more likely the Friday before D2, on past record.....)

That's a pity Sean. You missed a great meeting. Lots of new folk and new kits and builds. Hope you're feeling better soon.

I was gutted I couldn't stay for the full meeting. I was blown away by Krystof's paper ship the Vainomainen. I don't know If people realised it but he designed the kit himself ans printed it out. I didn't get to chat to many people today but had a good chat with Jack about making diorama bases.

That paper ship was amazing. Didn't realise he designed it himself.

Yes, it was a great meeting - 16 people in attendance, with lots of ideas floating around, and a couple of new recruits too! Some of the folks brought models to show
and tell, but quite a number kept our powder dry this close to the competition (or in my case have still a lot of work to do!)

In a little bit of actuality imitating art, we shared the mainspace with a Vegan pop up café (take a bow for your prophetic skills, Pat). One of the folks
running this kindly took a group photo for us late on during the meeting (unfortunately, after Pat and his daughter Katri, and Gerry McCann, had gone,
and after Paul H had come and gone....)

As I was very engaged talking to new members, and making arrangements for various rota at D2, I didn't get a chance to take photos of everything on the
table (you can see most of them above in the foreground to the photo above), but I did manage to take these:-

some nice jets from murfv (Vincent says spot the deliberate "mistake")

And this nice pair of silvery craft (with 35th scale's Starfury WIP in the background):-

I missed a photo of Joe's little Dragon Rapide in sharp black and yellow AA colours, which will hopefully be ready in a fortnight's time (rigging and all, of course,
from Mr Sticks and Strings ;) ), as well as any photos of Sean's very effective land rover in US Army garb, and his figure on a base, Jack's Libyan "technical",
and some very nice tanks from Tony that are just awaiting tracks and some weathering, as well, of course, as Krzystof's excellent card model ship.

Perhaps others who were there, taking photos, will have stuff to add to the thread....(Joe?, Pat?)

See y'all at D2 on October 12th/13th. :>

Philip

edit reason:- correcting typos. (shouldn't put up a post before breakfast!).

I'm going to guess that the 'deliberate mistake' is the A-7 Corsair which never served with the Royal Navy, although it does look good in the colour scheme.

NEXT MEETING

Due to the exertions that we will undoubtedly have had by then, over the "D2" weekend, and also conscious of the request that we have at least one regular Dublin Chapter meeting every month, I have been on to the Exchange in the last day or so.

Unfortunately, they are booked out for all of the third Saturday (19th) and also for the morning of the following Saturday (26th). However, they can accommodate us for the afternoon of the latter, so I have booked from 3 pm till 5 pm on Saturday 26th October.

Can you let me know, please, if that is OK for all - I realise that it means an afternoon session rather than a morning one, but hey - some of use might like to sleep in anyhow.....

Thanks,

Philip

The 26th sounds good to me but does that not clash with the South Dublin Model Railway show in Blackrock on the October Bank Holiday weekend?

Vincent - I had a look at the thread on that topic that Dermot set up, and anyone volunteering to man a table in Blackrock was saying that they could only do the Sunday, so there's no clash.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. I'll take it that the meeting is on, therefore, for Saturday 26th from 3 till 5 pm. I will put up the usual notice on our fb page as well.
