Some of the results

I wasn't near enough to get a good shot of it but Joe also showed how to straighten wire using a steel rule and a piece of glass. You firtst cut the wire to size on the glass not a cutting mat to avoid the kink in the end of the wire and then just roll it between the steel rule and the wire. It was a great demo and a record attendance

Well done on the photos, guys and a special 'well done' to Joe for an excellent series of demonstrations. I though that it was one of the best meetings I've attended so far, with the demonstrations giving it a real focus. Any time I feel that I come away having learned something new feels like time well spent.

Cheers,

Gerry

I'd just like to add my thanks to Joe for an excellent and well presented demo. Whilst I don't build WWI aircraft myself I will find this of use for ariels and such on WWII aircraft. Also, thanks for the wire Joe.

Come on Graham, time to break the mould and try out a WW1 aircraft kit. If I can make WW2 aircraft kits and anti tank guns for last years GB's you can try out a WW1 aircraft kit, come on give it a go, you never know you might just surprise your self!!!!!!!
Cheers

Exchange has been asked to Close

It appears the Exchange is under threat of immediate closure. Backup plans for a venue may be necessary.

I'm not canvassing for signatures, by the way. I'm just using the link to highlight the closure.

So...after that little hiatus, and the closure (perhaps temporarily, perhaps permanently) of the Exchange, and a lot of work by a lot of people behind the scenes in the last couple of weeks, things are moving.

Very much thanks to Pat, we are "go" for February 15th in the Culture Box, which is at 12 East Essex Street (almost opposite the Project Arts Theatre) in Temple Bar - usual time from 11 am till 1 pm. This is the "Sales Day" as previously advertised on the forum. Also bring along any kits you have finished or are working on for a "show and tell".

The usual €2 per person "voluntary" contribution will apply (at least for this meeting)

Hope to see you all there!

Philip

Sorry about that Barry hopefully your saturdays will free up at some stage.

I think this is going to be a good venue and I hope we get a good turnout on the day. We should print up a notice to stick on exchange front door to let anyone who misses the change of venue know.

Good idea Pat - I'll print one up and put it on the Exchange door on the day.

Apart from the forum, and the facebook notice (thanks!), I am going to send an e-mail this weekend to all the members to let them know.

Simon (Dasike) is also going to put up a note in Marks in Hawkins Street.

Good idea, Pat. I did tell him verbally last night, but there may well be modellers who go only to Paul and not to Marks.....

I'm hoping to make it, unless the weather is foul. Then I'll just stay in bed with a bottle of bubbly and she who must me obeyed.
Cheers

I'll be there, Vincent, with your book, as promised.

(I think I've only missed one or two meetings in the last 3 years)

Joe - she who must be obeyed or she who must you obey?

(Surely all the bubbly will have been drunk the previous night......?) ;)

I will be there. I collected the keys this afternoon. We will have it all to ourselves.

There are higher tables and plenty of chairs. We also have access to the kitchen so who is bringing the biscuits?
For anyone who doesn't know it it is between the Stage Door cafe and the IBAT College opposite the entrance to Meeting House Square
