Barry - I assume it's Barry the builder?? - no place to put the van - keep it at the site, I'd say, it's not a long walk! The nearest car parks are Fleet Street and behind Burdocks at the back of Jurys's Inn at Christchurch...

I will be there. I collected the keys this afternoon. We will have it all to ourselves.

There are higher tables and plenty of chairs. We also have access to the kitchen so who is bringing the biscuits?
That's great Pat - we could get some goodies in Meeting House Square market to go with the tea. (I'll bring a few Barry's Tea tea bags....but there are no biscuits in our house .. ^o) )

Nice one Pat on getting us a new venue.

Sorry I can't make it. Enjoy the pop-up hobby shop and like Sean said, take plenty of pics!

I am planning to be there. A touch of Man-Flu has hit me but I reckon a wee dram of whisky will sort that out.

Well - an excellent venue, and an excellent meeting.

Many thanks to Pat for organising the Culture Box for us - it is a very comfortable venue, with a little kitchen at the back (complete with tea
bags, sugar and non out of date milk!). And we had the place to ourselves. (which was also nice.......)

Depending on estimates, there were either 17, 18 or 19 modellers there during the meeting. They came from as far away as Carlow, Wicklow, Naas
and even Birr, Co Offaly, as well as those from closer to the city.

It was our "Sales Day", and a number of members brought along large bags or boxes full of kits for sale "on-spec", while others came along
to do the handover of kits, books or decals that had previously been sold/ordered via this forum. Quite a few of us came with money and
came away with kits or other items...I myself brought home a rather large box containing the Star Trek DS9 station kit by AMT/ERTL (thanks, Vincent!)

Here are two photos giving a general view of the place, with the usual chat going on, as the boxes and bags were examined and deals done:-

In addition to the main business, a few had brought along some of their works in progress.

Joe (sticks and strings) Moran brought along two biplanes (now that's a surprise!), including his green streaky Kempf Fokker Triplane:-

And this rather colourful one (is this an Albatros, Joe?)

Posted Image
(sorry about the fuzzy image..)

But what was most interesting was Joe's tiny little Fokker D.VII in 1/144th scale, already well underway. One could look into the miniscule
cockpit, to see seatbelts, a stick and some instruments (or at least I think that's what they were, as I didn't bring my Optivisor.....)

Definitely a little fokker!

There was also this IAC Gladiator, WIP from Vincent (Murfv):-

Posted Image

And then there was this Sci-Fi creation - I think it's some kind of a hover tank thing from Star Wars...

Posted Image

There was also this WIP vehicle, with two figures for scale, awaiting painting. (A US Bren Carrier or similar, I assume)

Others may have spotted some things that I missed, so feel free to post up your photos here.

Overall, an excellent meeting.

The next one is planned, for the same venue, on Saturday March 22nd, again from 11 am till 1 pm.

The colourful Albatros was Jack's. The Star Wars tank was mine as was the Universal carrier- both works in progress.
I think the venue worked really well- plenty of space for everyone to chat and circulate

Thanks for the corrections, Pat - I was too busy buying and chatting!

Yes, an excellent venue. Let's hope we can make it a regular one, "going forward" (as they say)

REMINDER

The next Dublin Chapter meeting will be on Saturday March 22nd at the Culture Box (and not the usual third Saturday, which is tomorrow, Sat 15th, because of likely lower attendances due to the Bank holiday weekend).

11 am till 1 pm

We will even have some tea/coffee and biscuits! :choco:

Instead of Simon's planned talk on IDF colour schemes I will be doing a demo on techniques involved in making urban dios. Should be something to Interest everybody

Does a chocolate topping count as weathering?

No, that would be badly applied Zimmerit

Yep, they are, and have chocolate chip weathering...rather like Luftwaffe mottling, rather than overly applied Zimmerit!
