Thanks for the demo on Saturday Sean, the top tip about painting PE mesh on some kitchen paper to wick away excess paint to avoid the paint blocking the mesh, very helpful. Some nice stuff on display as well, the WWI tank caught my eye, hopfully someone has a few pics to post. |

Have to agree with Philip, a good demo from Sean. Will now have to try the 1/144 scale stuff that comes with the Valom kits. Will post some photos of the kits on display when I get a chance. Cheers Joe M |

As promised some photos of the models on display on the 23rd. Again I don't want to credit models unless I am really sure of the name so if I don't credit you feel free to add to the post! Cheers Joe M This was Gerrys cockpit for his Bf 109, I had to stop Philip drooling over it!!! ![]() Spitfire in a very interesting scheme. ![]() I claim a share in painting the Wildcat not the Lysander, Vincent had it at his airbrushing demo, (my attempt was easy to overspray). ![]() Also from Vinny two Higgins boats, one the new Airfix kit (painted) the other I think was a Heller kit, but may be wrong about this. ![]() Nice looking airliner, not sure of make, model or owner. ![]() One of two kits that Sean brought along. Lovely work ![]() And Seans second kit.(you will notice that I do not have a clue about the type, make or model. Sorry, a little out of focus. ![]() A lovely kit from ken who also brought along his gong that he won at the Nationals in Brazil, yes that is correct. ![]() A Sopwith 1 1/2 Strutter single seat night fighter that some nutter called Stick and Strings brought along. Not finished yet but the end is in sight. ![]() Finally two lovely tanks. My favourite was the WW1 male tank ![]() ![]() Thats all for now folks Cheers Joe M |

Great photos, Joe. (And no, I wasn't drooling, I was simply admiring Gerry's work). As you can well imagine, getting permission from SWMBO to have a 1/32nd Bf109, once made, in the house would be nigh-on impossible. Philip |

Well considering how the 'market price' of the Revell 1/32 Bf109G6 is skyrocketing Philip you might be advised to 'get on the ladder ' before it's too late ! Toymaster Mary St . were an awesome 25 euro up till not so long ago .Marks ' Greenogue was charging around 28 ,I see The Art and Hobby Shop in Liffey Valley has them ( well a G10 and the new Spit I ) now at somewhere in the very high 20s .Imagine my shock at seeing them now at 32.99 in Greenogue ???!!!(I even checked on website ,it's true!) Maybe if I could get my wife's income over declared by her employer I could get a 35 year mortgage for one before it's too late . Seriously though I'd love one too but time AND storage puts me off -although they may not be that much bigger than a 1/72 Ju88 etc - and I'm waiting for the market to crash ! |

The next meeting is next Saturday the 13th if I remember correctly from the last one, a little earlier that usual but with D3 on the 27/28, the usual 3rd Saturday would have fallen only a week before the Nationals. |

Yes indeed, the next Dublin Chapter meeting will be held on next Saturday, 13th September. Usual place - the Culture Box. usual time - 11 am till 1 pm. No particular talk or demo is planned this time, but there will be an opportunity to have a chat and look at models etc. As well, if you have something ready/almost ready for D3, for entering in the competition, then bring it along. We usually give folks a chance (if they wish) to have it examined by other club members, who may be able to spot something that you then have time to rectify before the competition itself. (It helped me a couple of years ago, at D1, when I had a 1/72nd Spitfire, but one of the guys spotted a seam line that I thought had been filled...I fixed it and managed a silver in the out of the box category). The dates for the meetings for October and November are already entered into the Calendar in this forum. (Many thanks to Pat for making the arrangements with the folks at the Culture Box. ) As usual, we will be meeting up on the Saturday before Christmas in the Porterhouse, so won't have a specific meeting in the Culture Box then.Philip Edited by Prenton, Sep 9 2014, 03:02 PM.

We had a more select number than usual - I think less than 10 in all [probably because folks were busy beavering away on their entries in the competition for D3]. However, good chat was had, helped down with coffee/tea and choccy biccies . And there some nice models on show, which I did take photos of, and will post up shortly. As promised, some photographs of the last Dublin Chapter meeting:- The show and tell table was a little sparser than usual, but there were still some interesting models there:- ![]() Don brought along some interesting models from his attic. This B-17:- ![]() And this rather nice classic airliner (which he also entered last weekend, with a DC-3, in the Competition, after some persuasion from Joe Moran). The DC-3 went on to win a medal. ![]() Krzysztof was there giving a little impromptu demo on making card models. Here is Jack, with guest, learning some of the finer points from him:- ![]() And this is an example of what can be done, a fine Dewotine:- ![]() To get us in the mood for the submarine group build, this little fella arrived on the table as well:- ![]() Overall, a quieter meeting than usual, since so many of the other regulars were missing (no doubt working away on models for D3, as indeed was proven last weekend). The Culture Box I managed to take a photo of the exterior of our venue, which I think heretofore has only been pictured on the facebook group page ![]() This is the view looking east along Essex Street. The blue building in the background is the Project Arts Centre/Theatre. As you can see, the banner on the Culture Box building has been replaced after some time missing, so makes finding the place easier. Philip |

And I was asked this by a number of folks at D3.... The next meeting will be on Saturday October 18th, in the Culture Box from 11 till 1. Not sure what is on the agenda, as yet. Philip |
