I am hoping to make it to this meeting.
It would be great if you can. No need to bring anything if you don't want to.

Glad to have got the chance to meet you at D3.

Cheers,

Philip

Reminder

The next meeting of the Dublin Chapter is coming up next Saturday, October 18th, at 11 am in the Culture Box.

No demo this time - just bring along what you wish by way of models made, partly made or in the box, for some show and tell.

We will also be planning the trip to Telford. IPMS Ireland has been allocated four 6ft tables - 2 tables long by two tables deep, so we have plenty of space to show our work. If anyone in the Chapter has stuff that they would like to have displayed, and is not going to Telford, let me know at the meeting, or by PM if not coming, and we can arrange to bring it over for the display.

Thanks,

Philip

Going to try make it in tomorrow .

Suggestions: Any chance of a demo some month on figure painting especially the dreaded faces ?
If there's a week without a talk etc how about an express (2hour!) kit build where everybody present does a bit of the building / painting of it ?( Have draw to see who gets to keep/display it ?) .
If there was a fair sized group we could have a 'team' kit 'build off'?
Or maybe complete it over two meetings?
Did I see a 'calendar' of 'talk topics' somewhere ? Is the 'season' /'programme' finished for this year ?

Yeah ,there was a v good one by a distinguished (Eastern European?) gent resident in South West (?) at IMMS (Collins Barracks)a couple of years ago .I don't recall if he had a well known website or was in the trade or both .I was disappointed to miss another by a similarly famous Czech gent at the last IMMS show due to last minute rescheduling of sessions .( He was sitting beside me at the Panzer talk ) Of course the basics of the 'face map' and shading etc can be found online but it's always far better in the relaxed setting of the monthly club meeting to be able to follow at your own pace ,get clarification and even try it out yourself .

Heil Mickey!
You mean Radek Pituch and his demo?

BTW not everyone from 'Eastern Europe' is Czech, so try again.

I can't recall any demo, I was more out than in, but my guess would be Daniel Batta of Shamrock Miniatures, Kells-ish directon?

Excellent meeting today - 17 in attendance. We had a show and tell of a number of models, most of which were works in progress. It was quite a
mixture of modelling types including aircraft, a large military vehicle/tank, some figures and - of course - some ships and submarines.

There was also some chat about D3, and Joe Moran, in the absence of our Chairman, conferred the gold medal on Gerry McCann, for his
winning entry at D3 for the Israeli Bulldozer in Class D02 (Gerry not having been able to be at the prizegiving last month).

There was also a bit of chat about our forthcoming foray to Telford, and arrangements were made for bringing over some models for the club
display there.

As always, there was coffee/tea and choccie biccies available. :choco:

The next meeting will be on Saturday November 15th, a week after Telford.

I will put up some photographs of the meeting later this evening.

OK then, some photos of the Dublin Chapter meeting today, courtesy of photobucket.....

This is the moment when Gerry McCann was handed his well-deserved gold medal by Joe Moran for the diorama:-

And just to remind folks, he got it for this:-

The main business involved chat about things plastic, helped along by a a show and tell of models. As I mentioned above, there was quite a variety of
work on display. Here is a shot of some of the attendance around the table with the models on it. (I think that's Mark talking)

There were some aircraft:-

and a helicopter in progress by Dermot:-

(a little bit out of focus - sorry)

And this big military vehicle (I think by Pat)

Posted Image

and these police cars by new member Laurence:-

There were some figures - John's Prince August figures:-

Posted Image

And Des's infantryman WIP:-

Posted Image
(Also out of focus - sorry)

Then there were the ships. Joe's little Polish sub:-

Dermot's Gato sub:-

and John's Norwegian destroyer:-

Apart from the general chat, Joe found time to give some tips to new club members:-

And Barry brought along some decals and paints which he very generously gave away (thanks Barry!)

All in all, a very enjoyable meeting.

Some good ideas there John. We'll try and get someone to give a figure painting demo. It won't be next month though

Yes the Italian Centauro is mine. The Paratrooper is by Des not Padraig and the Airfix quick kit Spitfire was by Des's daughter who I think was promised another kit for her patience at the meeting :D
