No worries, John - just happened to be at home today, so was dropping in and out of the forum. No news yet as to what everyone else is going to bring. No doubt we will hear nearer the day. Philip |

I'm hoping to be there, but not planning to buy anything (well, that's the *plan* anyhow!). @Murfv: I may be wrong, but as we don't yet have a location for the April meeting, it's probable the date isn't known yet either... J. |

Somebody's got to bring some wallets, otherwise there will be no sales...... There will be an announcement at the meeting regarding our new venue, and the dates of the next two meetings at that venue. Then I will post up the details here, and on the fb page. (Only fair to let the folks who turn up today know first )Philip |

Another good meeting today. I counted 18 in attendance...not may builds on show but lots of commercial transactions and good old fashionec bartering going on. Was in Banba afterwards and met a gent looking at tanks who asked for advice on what the different scales meant. It might be because of all the boxes in my arms....anyway he was looking at a Tamiya WW II russian tank of some sort for €65 as his first ever model. Decided to try one after playing World of Tanks. Anyway, we had a grand chat and he settled on a Revell Leopard 2A4 in 1/35 for under €30 to begin with. I also pointed him in the direction of this forum so hopefully we'll see him on board soon. |

Good count, Sean Yes, there were indeed 18 in attendance. All those there, so far as I could see, were from the Greater Dublin area and - in the event - nobody came from further afield. Perhaps this might have been due to some other gathering, with somewhat larger numbers, elsewhere in the capital.... It was our last Dublin Chapter meeting in the Culture Box, as regrettably the place is being sold and will be a shop within a couple of months. I will put up some photos of the meeting later, once I can get photobucket to work. There were some models in the show and tell, including some nice ones from you, Sean. However, as mentioned, the meeting was mainly organised around sales (and swaps) of kits. Some people's stashes got a bit bigger, and some peoples' wallets a little fatter (but, in fairness, more of the former than the latter, as I saw some sellers busy buying from others.... )I ended up buying some stuff from John (FS2005) and bagging those rather nice wooden tweezers, as well as some Bf 109 decals...(as might be expected! ). I also got a neat WW2 US Carrier Deck base, which is literally "ready to go" from Barry Spencer (once I get moving on a Hellcat or a Corsair) - in 1/72nd of course. Finally, I bought an Amodel kit, also in 1/72nd, from Mark McGuinness, of the famous DB-601A engine, that was used for the Bf 109's, the Bf 110's, the He 111's etc. It's in injected plastic, not resin, and has a sprue for a hoist and tackle, so should work well for a small diorama. I also completed a swop with Jason, that was begun in Long Kesh, and have now some rather excellent Blue Rider SCW decals, including the "Mickey Mouse" insignia for Adolf Galland's Bf 109 in Spain. Many thanks Jason .Good meeting. It is a pity that we have to say goodbye to the Culture Box, as it was a good place ...and not a Vegan bakery in sight! Many thanks to Pat for finding it for the club ![]() I will put up details of our new venue later (which Pat has also sourced for us). Philip |

Bit poignant for me , as Culture Box is only IPMS venue Ive attended .Will miss the place !Super balance of convenient location , 'discretion' and airyness/natural light .Im not at all sure I would have liked being so 'on display/show' as pics of previous Temple Bar venue suggested .Although I think towards the end of yesterday's meeting an older couple wandered in expecting some kind of public exhibition . Lots of freebies yesterday including some nice mementoes of recent Ulster Aviation Museum trip .Did anyone else find their Canberra DVD didnt work past 2 minutes 19 seconds ?It looked REALLY good :-( |

So - our new venue is The Lab, Foley Street, Dublin 1. As I mentioned above, our stalwart "arts" guru, Pat, has managed to source it for us. (Thanks Pat!) The next Dublin Chapter meetings will therefore be there, on Easter Saturday, April 4th, and the day after Mayday, May 2nd. Starting, as usual, at 11 am and going on till 1 pm. Payment arrangements as before - Pat has organised a good rate for us. Foley Street is one street north of Talbot Street, parallel to the section of Talbot Street between its junction with Gardiner Street and its junction with Amiens Street. For those coming by car, the best places to park are the Irish Life Centre, or Connolly Station. For those coming from outside Dublin and wishing to use public transport, the best option is to use the LUAS red line park and ride sites, and use the LUAS to go to the Busaras stop. It's a very short two/three minutes walk from there. For those coming by train, it's equally a couple of minutes from Connolly station, or the LUAS line from Heuston again to Busaras. For those from Dublin city and county - well, you know your normal route to the city centre. The venue is about five minutes' walk from O'Connell Street. Hope to see everyone there. Philip |

So much for that. Spent €20.00 in total, a Roden Gotha G.IV for €10.00 and two obscure kits from Amodel, a KACKP-1 and a SPL Hydroplane €5.00 each. Didn't manage to sell one of my 'Stick & String' kits or any of the targets I brought along, a twin pack of WW11 german trucks and a motor bike and side car and a small utility transport jeepie thing that was part of the kit. Cheers Joe M |

Folks, I promised to put up the photos of our last meeting on March 21st - and then simply forgot! So here they are. The "show and tell" table was populated, as usual, by a number of models under construction, recently purchased and under construction. Here is a general view:- ![]() (you can see, at the far end of the table, the map showing the location of our new venue, the Lab in Foley Street, which was distributed to all present) Going in to more detail, here is Jason's Red Bull racing car, in all its glory:- ![]() Jason's WIP A-10 was also there (though my shot was a little rushed, so isn't fully in focus.) ![]() Then there was Sean M's bomb disposal man and his two little robot sidekicks:- ![]() Krzysztof's colourful card models were on display, which included these:- ![]() ![]() I don't recall whose the other kits were, so here they are, without captions:- ![]() ![]() As mentioned above, the main purpose of the meeting was to allow some sales and kitswops. To represent this activity, here is Mark McGuinness doing business with Joe Moran, while Tadhg peruses one of the boxes of kits and mulls over a purchase. ![]() Finally, the Chairman of IPMS Ireland, Gerry Hanlon, passed on the Best Display Trophy, which was won by the Dublin Chapter display at D3 last year, to another of those members who contributed to the display - Pat McGrath. ![]() Goodbye Culture Box, we will miss you!
