Not going to make it tomorrow. A lot of new pipe work in the house due to improvements in then central heating system. Now that the heating people are more or less finished some cleaning up to be done.

You missed a great turnout. Lots of stuff on the tables. Philip was busy with the camera so I'm sure we'll see the pics shortly

Great meeting, great numbers, great models.

Was wondering as I have been asked what time does the show in sept open on the sat and sun. Time not mentioned on the flyer.
Most important model--the one I have yet to build

Hi Maurice

It's 10 am on both days for the public, though members are asked to come in on the Saturday by 9 am to help set up the tables, have their models on the tables ready for the opening etc.

The flyer doesn't have this info, because I had to cut some items to get everything to fit (and be still readable) on the flyer, which is A5. However, the full details are on the website, whose address is on the flyer.

The info is also available here:-

Hope to see that lovely CR 32 on the club table, or indeed in the competition!

Ok - as promised, if a little belatedly, here are some photos that I took at last Saturday's Dublin Chapter meeting.

As mentioned earlier, there was quite a crowd there - 22 in fact, which is more than a quarter of all the membership of IPMS
Ireland (and some regulars were missing, what it being July/holiday time)....not too easy to get all in together, so here are a
number of crowd shots.

Suffice it to say that there was over 2 hours of modelling chat.....

The table was pretty full of models - models completed, works in progress or boxes for us to ogle over (my own contribution being
the box containing the new Eduard Spitfire Mk VIII in Profipack version)

Barry (ship Barry) had brought along two dioramas for me to photograph and put up elsewhere the forum.

Firstly, a ship rescue (amazing detail in a very small scale...)

Posted Image

and what his daughter calls the hippo - an armoured car actually used in the Spanish Civil War.

Posted Image

Keeping on target, there were a number of vehicles, topped off by Sean M's excellent finished model (a Stryker, I understand):-

Posted Image

and one in progress:-

Posted Image

But WW2 was not neglected, with this excellent US Army half-track in 1/35th scale:-

Posted Image

Among the aircraft, Jason brought along his entry to the Spanish Civil War group build, a Bf 109 E-1, coincidentally the 109th Messerschmitt 109
used by the Legion Condor in that war, and marked as such:-

Posted Image

As well as his entry in the French Fancy group build over on Brtimodeller - a P-47 in Free French markings:-

Posted Image

Keeping with the SCW group build, there was Graham (Narayan's) immaculate (and colourful) Polikarpov I-16 in Republican markings:-

Posted Image

And there was Maurice's exquisite Fiat Cr-32 "Chirri":-

Posted Image

Also there was a more modern example - a Eurocopter kit, which was underway:-

Posted Image

The IAC was represented by a model of a Gazelle:-

Posted Image

And then, in an interesting "what-if" moment, we had this "craft" in Irish markings:-

Posted Image
(One question going around was whether this was eligible for the IPMS Ireland Aviation Trophy at the Nationals....?)

More recognisable sci-fi was represented by Dermot's Pod racer;-

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Slightly more esoteric were some new card models from our colleague Mr Golec.

Posted Image

Krzysztof has recently set up an internet shop, and will be exhibiting at D4....

Overall, an excellent meeting, with a lot of talent on show. The next meeting will be on Saturday August 15th, when we hope to have a talk on
model electronics. (Or how to light up your models other than with lighters, matches and candles)

Folks,

Reminder that the next meeting is coming up this Saturday, August 15th. Unfortunately, our promised speaker, Mark McGuinness, has today told me that he is not able to appear, as he is in Spain. He hopes to reschedule his talk for October.

However, feel free to come along with a model or two - finished, work in progress or newly bought, for a chat and a show & tell.

The venue for the meet is, as usual, the Lab in Foley Street, and the times are from 11 am till 1 pm.

Hope to see you there!

Philip

I should be there .(although turn out is so healthy these days every meets a busy one- and I dont think theres going to be much under a dozen attendees one way or the other -with twice that being as likely )I can recall days , long past ,when there might be barely half a dozen for the majority of a Dublin Modellers Society meeting although they tended to drift in towards the second half .In the final one or two visits I made they had moved from CIE Hall at back of Clerys to some quiet city centre pub .All pre 'Child Protection Guidelines ' etc ...I think a lot of this pc stuff has stifled kids activities nowadays .
